Evaluations

6-foot-6 and 194 pounds, Zavier Pickersgill is a high-IQ, stocky guard. Zavier has the ability to score the basketball with ease and stretch the floor beyond the arc. Zavier has great leadership and is well respected by his peers.   Zavier has a high release point and is deadly to defenders as he can shoot from all over. Zavier is a natural at handling the basketball, keeping it secure and using his dribbles efficiently to get past defenders and make plays for his teammates or himself. Zavier sees the floor very well and makes great decisions on the fly. He also rebounds at a high level, rising above the rim to snatch the ball out of the air.   Zavier is currently in the weight room and working on his ability and explosiveness. He is doing a great job preparing himself for the next level. The Western Australia native boasts an outstanding 4.0 GPA and will be a great pickup for whoever decides to lock him in! — Wes Morgan, ScoutU Basketball Scout, WesM@ScoutU.com, 704-816-9367   I’ve had the pleasure of working with Zavier for the past 12-14 months. He has demonstrated a passion for basketball, eagerness to learn, and strives to achieve his goals. I saw Zavier putting in additional hours of practice in his own time, and he goes above and beyond what is expected. His positive attitude is one of the many reasons why he is a pleasure to work with.   Zavier’s strengths on the court are his leadership to bring a team together and do what it takes to win. His skill set is well-rounded, being able to shoot the 3 at a high percentage, attack people bigger than him off the bounce, and use his body on the defenders who aren’t. His basketball IQ is well about people his age. He is the loudest player on the court at all times, making him a general on defense.   Zavier would be a great fit for any team. I strongly recommend Zavier as a player, and as a person. He is extremely positive and respectful to his peers, and to myself as a coach. — Marshall Nelson, HoopWithEm Basketball Academy     I have known Zavier Pickersgill for four years. During this period, I have had the pleasure of coaching him on numerous basketball teams. Zavier has thoroughly impressed me, with not only his skill and development during this period, but also with his outstanding leadership and sportsmanship.   Zavier is one the most talented young athletes that I have coached. He is a competitive beast and an exceptionally skilled player. He excels in most positions, being able to play anywhere 1 through 4. He is a lovely shooter, always a threat from beyond the arc, he can be trusted as a ball handler and is a beast in the paint. Defensively, he has the mobility to play on a guard and the size and strength to lock down a big. With continued development, support and coaching, I believe he is capable of playing at the highest level.   Zavier is an extremely polite young man. He is a leader amongst his peers. A pleasure to coach, Zavier embraces feedback and inspires his teammates. He has an enormous work ethic and will always question his teammates and coaches to ensure that not only is he getting the best out of himself, but also the team. He has a thirst for knowledge and is certainly a student of the game. At Kalamunda Eastern Suns Basketball Club, Zavier is a popular player and a role model to younger athletes. Without hesitation, I would highly recommend Zavier as a player and student. — Jon Ryan, Eastern Suns Coach   Letter of Recommendation from Swan Christian College Principal

Message from Zavier

My name is Zavier Pickersgill, and I attend Swan Christian High School in Perth, Western Australia. I’m looking to find my college home for 2026. I weigh 198 pounds and stand 6-6 with still some growth left. I primarily play SF/PF but am versatile and play also as a big guard while being able to defensively switch onto the C or play on-ball defense on the PG. Where I live, WABL is the highest league to compete, and I play SF/PF regularly. Overall this year I’m averaging 17.3 points, 9.1 rebounds and 3.8 assists while shooting 47% overall and 38% on 3s for the Eastern Suns. I am now a part of the NBL1 playing squad at Eastern Suns.   I am an extremely hardworking and disciplined student and pride myself on my in-class results. I was awarded college Valedictorian at the end of year 12 for my high school. My grades are mostly A’s, while my major is undecided between mathematics, business or agriculture. I’ve captained every one of my WABL and high school teams and am also the Deputy Head Boy at my school. I strive to be as coachable as I can on and off the court.   I am fortunate to have an academy called Aussie Prospects in Perth run by coach Ash McCormick that I train with alongside the teams I play for. He has sent numerous athletes to the U.S. and onto pro careers. While training with him, I’ve worked out alongside multiple NCAA Division 1, 2 and 3 athletes, NAIA and JUCO prospects, and guys playing pro overseas. It has helped me grow and learn a great amount as a player, and I am blessed to have the guidance of someone with so much experience. Ash is prepping me mentally and physically to be at my best to come over and perform in the USA!   I believe what sets me apart is my leadership, flexibility on court and my work ethic. I play team-first as a running wing who can push the floor, get to the rim and loves to shoot the 3. Whatever role my coach asks me to play, I will do it to the best of my abilities – whether that be coming downhill off a screen or setting three off-ball screens in the same possession. I take pride in defense, working hard on and off the ball while being the loudest on the court. I always want to get better and learn. I put in extra hours, regularly training in the gym and on the court while accounting for appropriate rest and recovery.   I appreciate you taking the time to learn more about me, and hopefully we can talk soon!
