Evaluations

6-6 PG/SG Tal Rose out of Virginia Academy is an upcoming name in the class of 2027. He demonstrated multiple games playing many positions from 1-4 defensively and on the offensive end playing 1-3. What really impressed me about Tal was his outside shooting ability on catch-and-shoot 3s on a consistent basis, pull-up 3s and mid-range shots off the dribble. He has a very relaxed, smooth shot that’s basically automatic when released. Does a great job attacking the basket and finishing strong through defenders – once downhill, it’s very hard to stop him due to his size and strength at 200 pounds. Tal is really athletic and can finish around the basket with the best athletes in the country. He also showed great post-ups and footwork down low on smaller guards, dominating them with his physicality and toughness.   Tal could be a point guard under the right system looking for a bigger guard to run the show. He handled pressure very well and had many nice moves to get by defenders, such as 1-2 move combos like a cross-between or in & out crossover and stop-and-go moves. Plays with great pace and does not get sped up. Can either run the show or play fluid within an offense to get multiple knockdown 3s and drive and attack moves with limited dribbles. Tal plays great within space and knows when to shoot or attack. Lets the game come to him and plays like a college-level guard. I was also impressed with his activity on the glass getting offensive rebounds for put-backs and defensive rebounds to push the tempo. Is a very good passer and made multiple nice reads for open teammates. He knows how to use his size and speed in transition. Runs the floor well and is great at getting to his spots to score. Defensively I was impressed with his on-ball pressure on guards causing turnovers/steals. He also took a few solid charges in big games.   A big-time player who makes big plays. Overall he’s a great shooter, big-time rebounder and a solid ball handler who plays well within an offense. Tal excels in the classroom holding a 4.23 GPA and is already in college courses. — ScoutU   Tal Rose is a 6-6 shooting guard/small forward and a complete student-athlete. He brings together size, versatility, discipline and character, while excelling both on the basketball court and in the classroom. Academically, Tal stands out with an exceptional 4.2 GPA. Maintaining that level of academic performance while competing at a high level reflects strong time management, focus and personal accountability. Tal approaches the classroom with the same consistency and preparation that he brings to basketball.   I’ve worked closely with Tal for the past 3 years, training him consistently in basketball and seeing his growth firsthand. Over that time, he’s shown steady improvement in skill, strength and overall understanding of the game, but more importantly he has developed maturity, leadership and a strong work ethic. He is extremely coachable, applies feedback immediately, and takes ownership of his development.   His mindset, habits and approach align with what is required to thrive in a demanding college basketball environment. On the court, Tal is a reliable two-way wing with the size and versatility to impact the game in multiple ways. He can defend multiple positions, takes pride in team defense, and consistently competes on every possession. Offensively, he plays within the flow of the game, understands spacing and tempo, and makes smart decisions that help his team succeed. — Dustin Hel, Former University of Rhode Island Player (2001-04)

Message from Tal

My name is Tal Rose, and I am a 6-6, 200-pound guard/forward at Virginia Academy in Ashburn, VA, graduating in the class of 2027. I currently hold a 4.23 GPA and am looking to major in business. On the court, I’m a high IQ player who looks to make the right play on both ends of the floor and can score at all three levels. Some of my top accomplishments include being named Dulles District Player of the Year, 1st-Team All-District, 1st-Team All-Region, 1st-Team All-County, All-Northern VA Team, and All-MPSC Conference.   What separates me from other players is how hard I work every day at my craft with my commitment to improving. I train 7 days/week, focusing on lifting, conditioning, skill-work and proper recovery. With my trainer AJ Gray, I get a good mix of lifting to get stronger, plyometrics to help improve my athleticism, and detailed instruction on how to properly recover to prevent injury. With my skills trainers Moe Gray and Dustin Hellenga, I get a wide range of detailed work on parts of the game like footwork, shooting, finishing and ball handling, but also learn to apply them in game situations.   Off the court, I am high academic – consistently challenging myself every year by taking a full load of AP and DE courses to help me prepare for college, which I believe has instilled traits of accountability and responsibility. Additionally, I take pride in being a leader on the court, campus and community – steering my teammates and younger student-athletes in the right direction.   Thank you for taking the time to read my message. I appreciate your consideration and I hope to have the opportunity to contribute to your program.
