Sophia Abundiz

My name is Sophia Abundiz, and I am a 2028 graduate from Stevens Point Area Senior High (SPASH) in Wisconsin. I stand 5-foot-4 and weigh approximately 140 pounds. My primary positions are SS, 3B and 2B. My sophomore season was especially rewarding both individually (.534 batting average, .597 on-base percentage, 14 extra-base hits and just 5 strikeouts in 103 AB) and as a team. I was honored to be named 2nd-Team All-State (Division 1), 1st-Team All-Conference in the Wisconsin Valley (unanimous selection) and 1st-Team All-District. Our team also qualified for the WIAA Division 1 State Tournament, an experience that reinforced the importance of teamwork, preparation and competing at a high level. My club team is Wisconsin Stingrays 16U Blue. Academically, I maintain a 3.6 GPA. While I am still exploring potential majors, I am excited to find a college that will challenge me both academically and athletically.   One attribute I pride myself on is being a quiet leader that my teammates can always count on throughout the game. What sets me apart is my ability to keep my emotions in check, even on days when things are not going my way. My training regimen consists of hitting, fielding and strength training through Total Athlete Performance, and I take pride in making in-game adjustments both offensively and defensively. Off the field, I enjoy spending time with my family, especially my sister, going on vacations, and hanging out with my English Bulldog puppy, Coco.   Thank you for taking the time to learn more about me. I’m excited to find a college program where I can compete at a high level, continue developing as both a student and athlete, and make a positive impact on and off the field.
