You received a college camp invite. Should you go?

CAPTIONS:

“College camps are very popular in many sports.

One of the biggest mistakes athletes make in recruiting is they become what I call ‘camp jumpers.’

They get camp invites and go from camp to camp to camp, spending thousands of dollars for camp fees and travel expenses, thinking these schools are interested in them.

Or, they blindly sign up for camps without any prior contact from the college.Colleges oftentimes invite thousands to their camps in part to fund their recruiting budgets, so athletes that have just a camp invite from a college are a long ways away from getting a scholarship offer. For athletes that have additional interest from the college before the camp, then these camps could be worth attending.

So, don’t be a camp jumper and be smart about what camps you decide to attend.”
