What you need to know about official and unofficial visits
CAPTIONS:
“Official visits are any visit to a college campus by an athlete or his or her parents that are paid for by the college. Typically, the college is paying for travel and/or lodging.
Unofficial visits are visits that are paid for by the athlete or his or her parents. Athletes can do as many unofficial visits as they want.
When you can do official and unofficial visits at NCAA schools varies by sport and division. Athletes can do an unlimited amount of official visits to D1 schools with 1 max per school. Same for D2 and D3 schools.
The only exception for doing more than 1 official visit to a school is if there’s a coaching change.
Also, official visits are less common in smaller or lower revenue generating sports.”
