When can college coaches start contacting athletes?

CAPTIONS:

“When and how NCAA college coaches can contact athletes varies by sport and division.

The most popular first recruiting contact dates are June 15 after sophomore year and September 1 of junior year.

However, this is NOT when schools start recruiting those athletes.

Colleges can watch athletes compete and talk to their coaches beforehand. In some sports, athletes can call coaches before those dates.

So, when those first recruiting contact dates come up, NCAA Division I schools already have their lists for that class and start reaching out to those athletes.

If you’re not on that list, you won’t get contacted, so it’s important D1 coaches know about you BEFORE these dates or as soon as possible afterwards.”
