Ron Moncrief, who currently lives in the Pittsburgh, Pa., area, has been a high school basketball coach since 2005, a career which includes two girls state championships and being named the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette North Basketball Coach of the Year (2013 and 2014) and Pennsylvania Sports Writers Coach of the Year (2014). Currently, Ron is the head varsity girls basketball coach at Rochester Area High School in Rochester, Pa., a school just outside of Pittsburgh. Ron played basketball at Robert Morris University (NCAA Division I), and Cowley County Community College (JUCO). Ron is an author and also has a Master Level Certification through Ganon Baker Basketball.
At Robert Morris, Ron attained a BSBA in sports management and pledged Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. In 2005, he started coaching girls basketball at Vincentian Academy as an assistant coach and became head girls basketball coach in the 2006-2007 season. He experienced tremendous success while at Vincentian Academy (eight section championships from 2011-2018 and winning seven WPIAL District 7 championships seven out of nine seasons from 2010-2018). Ron’s teams were WPIAL District 7 runners-up in 2007 and 2017 as well as the 2013 runner up in the PIAA State championship game. In 2014-2015, his teams won back-to-back PIAA A State championships. Since Ron has been coaching, his staff and teams qualified for the PIAA State playoffs in 16 out of 18 years. He also has coached and developed many players who have advanced to play collegiate level basketball.
Ron also has experience as a high school Athletic Director for several years and as an AAU basketball coach. Ron loves coaching, mentoring and developing players by using sports to help to teach life lessons!
