Lou Chapman, who lives in St. Petersburg, Fla., is a highly respected basketball talent evaluator and player development specialist with over 20 years of experience training, coaching and mentoring athletes at the high school, collegiate and professional levels. He has worked with numerous high-level scholarship players in the Milwaukee area, including three-time NBA champion Kevon Looney, where Lou played a key role in his early development on the path to the NBA.

Lou’s coaching resume includes experience at the NCAA Division I level with Loyola University-Chicago, where he served as Director of Basketball Operations. In that role, he evaluated high school prospects, coordinated recruiting calendars and acted as the central point of contact for on-campus visits.

As the Associate Head Coach at University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, an NCAA Division III powerhouse, Lou served as Recruiting Coordinator and was instrumental in assembling rosters that led to the program’s 2012 and 2014 NCAA Division III national championships. During his tenure, he recruited multiple All-Americans, including a National Player of the Year.

At the high school level in Wisconsin, Lou served as Head Varsity Coach at Milwaukee Bay View High School and West Allis Central High School. During his time in these roles, he coached and helped develop over 10 NCAA Division I student-athletes, guiding them through the college recruiting process while building long-standing relationships with college coaches nationwide.

As a player, Lou was a 4-year scholarship athlete with experience across multiple levels. He began at Colby Community College in the highly competitive Jayhawk Conference, earning All-Conference honors as a sophomore. He then transferred to University of North Carolina-Wilmington, an NCAA Division I school, where he earned the starting point guard position and competed in the 2002 NCAA Tournament, advancing to the Round of 32. He finished his collegiate career at Missouri Western State University, where he competed in the NCAA Division II Tournament and was a finalist for Conference Defensive Player of the Year.

Prior to joining ScoutU, Lou spent over a decade as a Nike Basketball Camp Director for the state of Wisconsin. During that time, he successfully built and expanded camp operations, impacting thousands of youth athletes while fostering strong relationships with players, families and coaches. His camps served as a developmental pipeline for numerous boys and girls who went on to earn college basketball scholarships.

Lou holds a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies from Missouri Western State University and a Master’s Degree in Education, with an emphasis in Health, Physical Education and Coaching from the University of Wisconsin- Whitewater.

Lou combines his extensive coaching background with a strong national network of college coaches to help student-athletes gain exposure and maximize their opportunities to compete at the next level. His passion, trained eye for talent and relationship-driven approach make him a valuable asset in the recruiting and scouting space. His unique background allows him to evaluate players through both a developmental and collegiate recruiting lens.
