John Marino, who lives in Riverview, Fla., began his journey into college recruiting in 2022 when he successfully guided his son through the complex baseball recruitment process culminating in multiple scholarship offers and a commitment in 2024. This hands-on experience sparked his passion for helping other student-athletes navigate their own paths to college athletics.
John brings over 25 years of coaching experience in both baseball and softball to ScoutU. His coaching career began in 1992 in Connecticut where he led a high school girls’ softball team for 10 years while simultaneously building a successful career in the financial services industry. In 2009, he relocated to Florida and continued his coaching journey, learning under a professional baseball coaching academy and leading several youth All-Star teams and high school level travel baseball teams.
A former three-sport athlete, John played soccer, baseball and track and field in high school, earning the track and field Senior Leadership Award at Xavier High School during his senior year. John then went on to run track and field in college at Central Connecticut State University. His extensive background as an athlete, coach and parent of a recruited player gives him a unique and well-rounded perspective, making him a valuable asset to the ScoutU team.
