Ben Olson, who lives in La Crosse, Wis., is a national soccer scout with experience developing athletes at the club, varsity and collegiate levels. Ben currently is the men’s soccer goalkeepers coach at Viterbo University (NAIA) and Logan High School in La Crosse. He also is a head coach with the Mississippi Valley Storm Soccer Club/La Crescent Youth Soccer Club.

Ben was the women’s soccer goalkeepers coach at Winona State University (NCAA Division II) in the 2023-24 season. He serves as a Staff Coach at Camp Shutout in Stevens Point, Wis., the world’s largest goalkeeper camp.  Ben has also been the Logan H.S. varsity head coach (2024-2025) and has held several other soccer coaching positions since 2011.

In his youth, Ben was ranked in the top 3 goalkeepers of Minnesota’s 1A division. Ben played with the nationally ranked University of Minnesota club team. He then played in the PASL with the Richmond Rowdies where he led the league with the lowest goals-against average, the highest save percentage and a divisional title. Injury ended that chapter short of a tryout with USL’s Richmond Kickers, but it didn’t end his investment in the game.

Ben has earned a reputation among his athletes for “fixing things athletes didn’t know need fixing” with a sharp eye for technical and tactical nuance. Ben coaches on a culture of care and competition and the athletes he works with trust him for it while learning how to show up as committed teammates. That trust led Ben to recruiting and helping athletes to not just grow but to find the right programs to continue their careers.

Beyond soccer, Ben has experience in basketball and track and field, and he competed on the University of Minnesota’s four-wall handball team at nationals.

Ben brings strong relationships with coaches and programs at the college level and a genuine understanding of what it takes to compete after high school. His goal is to connect athletes with opportunities that fit and to be someone families can rely on throughout that process with full, personalized attention.

Ben lives in La Crosse with his wife, two daughters and their dog.
