Sophia Jaramillo is an elite middle infielder with a 4.0 GPA, demonstrating not only academic excellence but also the discipline and time management skills required for success at the college level. On the field, she is an aggressive, high-impact defender with exceptional glove work, ensuring that balls do not get past her. Her quick feet, strong short-hop handling, and fearless approach make her a wall in the infield. Sophia’s overhand throw reaches 59 mph, showcasing her arm strength and her defensive versatility allows her to excel at multiple positions, including third base and outfield, where she tracks balls with precision. Offensively, she is a consistent hitter with the ability to make key plays under pressure, hitting confidently against high-velocity pitching. Used frequently as a pinch hitter, she demonstrates her reliability at the plate, consistently finding ways to get on base and delivering in clutch situations as the fifth hitter in the lineup.   Beyond her physical abilities, Sophia possesses the intangibles that define a collegiate-level competitor. She has faced significant adversity at a young age and has persevered, proving her mental toughness and resilience. Her work ethic is unparalleled. She dedicates extra time to strength, speed and hitting training on her own, constantly refining her skills. A cognitive learner, she quickly adapts to coaching and game situations, making her an invaluable asset to any team. She also excels in leadership, actively participating in school leadership groups, which speaks to her strong character and ability to inspire those around her. College coaches seeking a dedicated, versatile and high-IQ player who thrives under pressure will find an outstanding prospect in Sophia Jaramillo. Her combination of academic excellence, elite defensive skills and unwavering determination makes her a prime candidate for collegiate softball success. — Jason Lauren, ScoutU Scout, 414-303-7607 (cell), Jason@ScoutU.com

Message from Sophia

I am Sophia Jaramillo, 2029 recruit from Xavier College Preparatory in Phoenix, AZ. My primary position is MIF, but I also play 3rd base and I can play outfield. I am 5’2” and weigh 128 lbs. I maintain a 4.0 GPA while being on Student Council and also a member of the NJHS. I had a .432 BA and 1.192 OPS in my club summer 2025 season. My overhand harm is 60 mph.   One of the main things unique about me is that I enjoy the process of softball. I believe that the team wins games during practice, so for me that’s one of the most important parts of my week, practicing at full speed and practicing with intention. I also believe that team practice is where I bring the skills I developed during my personal time to showcase to my coaches and teammates. Therefore, it’s very important to me that I work on my positional work and my hitting daily, in addition to speed and strength, to continue to grow as a player and teammate.   Lastly, I focus only on what I can control. My goal is to win all my ABs and make the right play on every ball that comes to me. When one of my teammates makes a mistake, I lift them up, because what is done is done, and we need them for the next play. My leadership style on the field is by example. I lead by example when warming up (which begins days before practice and games), when putting together and taking down equipment, and when doing drills with my teammates. When things get tough, I do not let negative thoughts in my mind. Confidence is my most powerful tool.   Thank you so much for your time, and I look forward to hearing from you in the future.
