5-foot-4, 140 pounds. RHP/MIF/OF. R/R. Relies on variety of pitches (4-seam, 2-seam, curve, rise, drop/curve), movement and accuracy more than velocity (57-58 mph fastball). More of a groundball pitcher by keeping it low in the zone and hitting her spots with good spin. Good leg drive. Drop/curve is best pitch and has been throwing since 10 years old (can throw for strikes or out of the zone). Throws changeup in any count with good deception. At the plate, has power potential with 74 mph exit velocity. Bats No. 3 and can hit home runs. Hits to all fields. Can hit higher-velocity pitchers (practices hitting at 65-70 mph). Good eye-hand coordination, good extension and wrist snap. Leader (talks on the field and lifts up teammates when they make mistakes). At 2B/SS, has 53 mph arm velo. Communicates well in the field. In OF (56 mph), reads ball well off the bat and hits cuts well. Well-coached by many very experienced coaches and former college players. Hard worker. Plays for club team that is 2.5 hours away one way and attends practice with that team 2-3 times/week. Has batting cage at home, lifts weights and works with a trainer. Good student (3.5 GPA). Physical therapy major.

I have known Rhiannon for about 3 years now. She has played for the Bandits since she was 13 years old. She is one of the most dedicated players we have had in our program in the last few years. She is hard-working, energetic, dynamic and a pleasure to be around and to coach. The last 3 years, I had the pleasure to be her pitching coach. Rhiannon’s team has been very successful, and she was one of the major parts of our success. She is one of the best pitchers that we have had in our program. She is a clutch performer and comes through time and time again when you need her. Rhiannon is just a very gifted athlete in softball. She is truly a TEAM player in our program. As a person, Rhiannon is dedicated, motivated and loyal to the program. She is always there when you need her. Rhiannon has the ability to make her teammates better and she always does it with a smile on her face. Rhiannon is a great hitter and a very accurate pitcher. The only weakness I can see out of Rhiannon is maybe her arm strength. Rhiannon is what a student-athlete’s should be, smart and hard-working. If you have any questions regarding Rhiannon, please do not hesitate to call me.

— Roger Schliewe Jr., Wisconsin Bandits coach, 920-382-7014

Rhiannon is one of the hardest-working kids I have coached in my 17 years of coaching travel softball. She is my No. 1 pitcher for the team and can play any infield position if I need her to do so. She also is an outstanding hitter and a great leader to the rest of the team. Rhiannon is a great athlete and could improve a little on positioning herself better when making defensive plays. Otherwise, she is very fun to coach and she catches on and understands the game but never hesitates to ask questions. I am very proud of her and how hard she works on her softball and would definitely highly recommend Rhiannon to any college team that wants an outstanding pitcher/softball player to help make their team better. If any coach has any questions about Rhiannon, please feel free to contact me thank you.

— Paul Federer, Wisconsin Bandits coach, 920-948-1111, banditswhite11@gmail.com

Rhiannon is a phenomenal athlete who is a natural leader on the softball field. She leads by example during games as well as throughout practice. One of her greatest strengths would be her motivation to be the best one on the field. She is constantly looking to get extra reps and better herself. As far as her softball skills, she is a very strong hitter who any coach would be lucky to have in their lineup. When she is on the mound, she has a confidence that allows her teammates to trust her. If there is an area she can improve on it would be getting rid of the ball quicker after fielding a ground ball. Rhiannon is aware of that and has been working very hard to accomplish that skill, which would only make her a better player. As far as her non-athletic strengths, the list could go on. She is a friendly, positive, hard-working individual who comes from a great family. She listens to everything her coaches tell her, but most importantly, she is willing to go the extra mile to better herself, whether that’s on or off the softball field.

Message from Rhiannon

My name is Rhiannon Carroll. I am a 2023 graduate of Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln High School in Wisconsin. I am 5-foot-4 and weigh 140 pounds. My primary position is pitcher (unanimous 1st-Team All-Conference as a sophomore), but I also play middle infield and outfield. I took advanced math for the last 3 years and earned a 3.5 GPA. I plan to become a physical therapist in my future. When it comes to pitching, I my fastball is 57-58 mph, and I rely mostly on my spins and hitting my spots.  My club batting average was .453, and I’m able to hit the ball anywhere throughout the field. I am more of a batter who tries to hit to get on base but can also hit for power with my 74 mph exit velocity.

During the week, I make a 2.5-hour one-way trip to the World Series Training Center three days a week. There, I pitch with Roger Schliewe and hit with Paul Federer two days a week. On Sundays, I have 8 a.m. team practice. I also lift three days a week with a trainer and actively participate in student council, key club and church.

Thank you for taking the time to look at my profile and learn more about me!
