Evaluations

5-foot-4, 130 pounds. Bats L/slaps. Throws R. 2B/RHP/OF. Bats No. 2 in a very good club lineup filled with college talent. Mostly a slap hitter. Hard slaps to gaps in OF. Good speed (2.98 home-1st on contact), allows to soft slap to left side of the field to get on base. Reads defense well to place the ball where the defense isn’t. Very smart baserunner. Aggressive to take the extra base or steal when the ball hits the dirt on a pitch. Working on bunting and getting high bounces on slaps. At 2B, has very good range and is quick to the ball. Arm strong enough to turn 2 at 2B (56 mph IF). Working to improve footwork and be smoother. In the circle, is a change-of-pace pitcher with a 56 mph fastball with good accuracy, movement and spin. Groundball pitcher with few walks. Screwball (55 mph) and dropball (54 mph) both drop late. 44 mph changeup. Leader by example. Excellent work ethic. Wakes up at 5 a.m. to lift weights 4 days a week before school. Does speed/agility workouts. Great teammate. Lifts up teammates, keeps things light in the dugout and always is cheering in the dugout. Excellent student (4.1 GPA, 31 ACT, 1280 on PSAT, takes several AP/advanced courses). Psychology major.

Natalie Fields is a complete softball player who is spunky and very fun to be around.  She is a great person who is selfless and always putting team needs ahead of her own.  An excellent leader on and off the field, her value to our team cannot be overstated.  She is coachable, an exceptional listener and a very hard worker.  She is an emotional, straight shooter who will always be honest with her thoughts and feelings.  She is the “team glue” that helps hold everything together.

Nat is an asset to our team defensively that gives us a lot of versatility.  She primarily plays second base or pitches but can solidly fill either corner outfield positions with both talent and poise.  She possesses above average range at these multiple positions and has a pretty strong and accurate arm.  As a solid fielder, she makes very few errors.  From second, she has great footwork around the bag and spins a good turn for an infield double play.  She works tirelessly to master her craft from the mound with multiple pitches.  She is improving her strength, velocity and control to hit all parts of the zone.  She is exhibiting a great understanding of setting up batters and moving around locations to maximize her skill set.

Natalie is a gamer who is pretty intense and is always willing to do whatever is asked of her at the plate.  She moves runners well and is a team leader in on base percentage.  She is a complete slapper that has every possible swing at the ready.  She reads defenses well, has great hands and exhibits exceptional barrel control.  She is working hard-slapping and her power game this off-season to incorporate extra-base hitting and moving runners by taking the ball deep and to the gaps of the outfield.  Her fast hands, placement and bat control make her very hard to defend against as she is always finding the holes and always on base.

Nat is one of our smartest baserunners with great speed and puts a lot of pressure on our opponents.  Natalie is also one of the best situational sliders on our entire roster. Natalie is a very complete player who does everything well, and at 100% all of the time.  She is a tremendous person with a heart of gold, a great teammate and just a joy to be around and coach!! Outside of softball, Nat is an excellent student with varied interests who enjoys singing in choir and a capella group at her high school.  She has a 4.1 GPA and manages her busy social and school schedules very well. Our team, and any team, would be lucky to have a person of her character and ability!!

Message from Natalie

My name is Natalie Fields, and I am a part of the class of 2022 at Oak Creek High School in Oak Creek, WI. I am 5-foot-4 and weigh 130 pounds. On my club team, I primarily play second base, pitch and play some outfield. On the mound, I am a change-of-speed pitcher (56 mph fastball) with good location and movement. I am a slap hitter (2.98 home-1st on contact) with a .432 OBP over 47 games (118 at-bats). Academics are very important to me, and I maintain a GPA of 4.1 and my class rank is currently 23 out of 521. I scored a 31 on the ACT, 1280 on the PSAT and am currently enrolled in several AP courses. Aside from softball, I am involved in my high school’s theatre and choir programs where I am also a member of the Knight Club A Capella group.

With my busy schedule, I have learned to manage my time well and be quick and efficient in whatever I do. I wake up at 5 a.m. to lift weights before school four days a week. Many of these workouts focus on speed and agility, and I have been working hard to better my time from home to first. I regularly attend private pitching lessons, high school open gyms and travel team practices. I pride myself on being a leader on my team by always having high energy and always communicating and cheering. I am also a leader off the field, and volunteer through National Honor Society and my church.

Thank you for taking the time to read about me. I look forward to hearing from you.
