Evaluations

5-foot-10, 2022 shooting guard/wing Maggie Keinsley knows how to make plays happen. Quick on her feet defensively, pressures her opponents to force turnovers. She anticipates opponents’ passes with keen off-the-ball defense, getting deflections and steals while hustling down court for the lay-up. Demonstrates “drop dime” passing to open teammates on the fast breaks. Solid ball handling right and left. Precise perimeter shooting, but also takes on opponents by driving past them with swift head-fakes. Can get into the paint traffic and finish with a very effective floater jump shot. Gets open behind the 3-point line and calmly squares up to the basket. Knows how to get open in the post and power up strong for shots/rebounds. Hardworking and fights for all loose balls. Teammates know to get the ball in Maggie’s hands for 3-pointers when it comes down to the wire to help win the game. Solid D2, NAIA talent. Maggie also shines off the court, sporting a 3.9 GPA.

Maggie Keinsley is a versatile basketball player on both ends of the court. Offensively, Maggie can score from all three levels. She is an effective perimeter shooter, has a great mid-range game when attacking off the dribble, and is effective when playing with her back to the basket. Maggie’s versatility makes her a valuable player on the court as she creates problems for opposing defenses.

Defensively, Maggie is a relentless competitor every possession of the game. She plays hard for the entire length of every defensive possession. She can defend all five positions with her athleticism, anticipation, defensive skill set and understanding of the game. Maggie is very fundamental in all aspects of the game and is a great rebounder.

Maggie is a strong athlete who has developed high-level basketball skills, a great basketball IQ, and the drive to improve daily. Her love of competition, intense will to win, on-court leadership and relentless passion to compete against the highest level of competition define Maggie as a player, teammate and leader. She is very coachable and always pursuing opportunities to improve her skills. Maggie displays leadership and work ethic that every coach hopes for from their top players.

Message from Maggie

My name is Maggie Keinsley, and I attend Homestead High School in Fort Wayne, Indiana. As a 2022 graduate, I am 5-foot-10, 143 pounds and play multiple positions, (primarily used as a 3). My current GPA is 3.9. In 2017, a family member of mine was involved in a serious car accident and was in ICU for many weeks. Seeing him over the following weeks solidified my desire to be a nurse, so I have a strong desire to work in the Intensive Care Unit. I pride myself on being a leader – on and off the court. I’ve been told by multiple coaches that my actions and work habits help me stand out as a role model for my teammates. Along with that, I am consistently told that my communication on the court is outstanding.

The two things necessary to be a successful high school athlete are a strong work ethic and the ability to prioritize. I have learned over the years what I have to do to be a strong athlete – and at the same time, a successful student. I have a rigorous weekly schedule that consists of 5 a.m. workouts with my basketball trainer, team practices/workouts, as well as strength conditioning 3 times/week. With this schedule, my afternoons and evenings are full, so I have learned to utilize early morning hours to complete homework and study for upcoming tests. In addition to my busy scholar-athlete schedule, I’m able to work part-time at a local restaurant (yet another lesson in discipline and commitment).

Homestead H.S. is a top-rated school in Indiana. Our coursework is rigorous and enables us to complete college-level courses while in high school. My current coursework consists of Honors and Dual Credit classes. I’ve achieved the distinction of Honor Roll each semester of high school. As proud as I am of my grades, some of my most rewarding moments have come while volunteering with the Best Buddies program. I work closely with special needs students and attend outings with them such as bowling and Champions Together basketball games. No matter what is going on around me, my time spent with this group of students always completes me.

Thank you for taking the time to learn about me as a student, community member and athlete. I am excited to see what the future holds for me. I’m confident that I have learned and will continue learning what it takes to be a strong, well-rounded college athlete.
