Evaluations

Madeline Dohogne is a 2022 OH/DS/OPP who attends Arrowhead High School. She has a strong work ethic, putting in maximum effort in all aspects of the game. As a sophomore, Madeline achieved her varsity letter. She did not have a defined role; however, through her relentless work earned a vital spot on the team. Madeline played an integral part in Arrowhead winning the 2019 D1 State Championship as a serving specialist and defensive specialist. She is a strong defender, placing herself in optimal defensive positions. Madeline has a smooth platform and a quick first step, along with a deceptively effective jump float. Madeline is a great student, taking AP/Honors courses while compiling a 3.8 GPA. She is also active in several school clubs – Warhawk Interact (community service club), Earth Club and Girl Up. Madeline is a team-first athlete and has all the intangibles expected of an elite player. I expect great success for her at the next level, and she will be an asset to any program.

Madeline is an extremely versatile player who can swing from either pin. This past fall, she earned her position as a 6-rotation player since she was one of our most consistent serve receive passers. She also has a very tough jump float serve that’s been a big asset to our team. She enjoys playing beach, and that training has helped increase her volleyball IQ and her “attacking toolbox.”

On the personal front, Madeline is very kind, accepting and driven. She was a team captain this year and did a great job making sure everyone on the team felt welcomed and they were important. Currently we are running a leadership workshop with the team. We are reading the book “Pound the Stone,” and Madeline has done a great job bringing mature insight to our weekly discussions. I know she’s someone that her teammates, peers, teachers and coaches love for her work ethic and her humility. I’m very excited to have Madeline back again as a senior next year to lead our team!

Madeline Dohogne is a player I’ve had the privilege of coaching her sophomore year at Arrowhead High School. With our team having seven seniors, Madeline was able to earn playing time as a serving specialist and middle-back defense. Her serves were a big momentum change in many games this season as her aggressive, deep jump float serve led us to winning many consecutive rallies. Madeline also feeds off big games and crowds, and was clutch in high-pressure situations like serving in the game to win the conference championship and the state championship. She is incredibly athletic, graceful and versatile. She can play 6 rotations and hit from either pin. Madeline also spends a lot of time playing beach in the summer, which not only increases her skills, but helps develop a strong volleyball IQ. She works hard and is one of the nicest, most selfless kids I have ever coached. Her teammates and coaches adore her. I believe she could succeed at a smaller D1 school, or any D2 or D3 school.

Message from Madeline

My name is Madeline Dohogne, and I’m a 2022 graduate at Arrowhead High School in Hartland, Wisconsin. I am 5-foot-11 and 155 pounds, playing outside hitter, DS/libero, and rightside/opposite. My cumulative GPA is 3.8 on a 4.0 scale, while I scored a 32 on the ACT.

My defining characteristics are my positivity and dedication both on and off the court. It’s my first priority as a both a teammate and friend to bring energy and positivity to the court by hyping up my team and being supportive. I tend to take a more leadership-like role on my teams. I remained active in training and working out during quarantine, and was then given the opportunity to be the 6-rotation outside on our team last fall for my junior season. I also played as a 6-rotation opposite, right side hitter and defensive specialist. There were many challenges that we had to face throughout the season – with teammates being quarantined due to contact tracing – and I was able to help keep our spirits high as one of our voted team captains. Unfortunately, I tore my ACL during practice in October and was subsequently unable to play about half our matches. Despite the setback, I’m actively working hard to get back to playing! I had surgery in November and have been in physical therapy ever since. I actively go to the gym several times a week to stay fit and strengthen my knee so that I can come back stronger than ever, and I still attend practices and tournaments with my club team to stay involved. I’m excited for a strong return to varsity for my senior year and 18’s club season!

I also hold myself to a high standard in academics by taking both Honors and AP classes, and I earned a spot on the Honor Roll during my freshman and sophomore years. Currently I am participating in a program called the Global Experience, which will earn me the Certificate of Global Competence when I graduate, and I’ll be acknowledged as a “Global Scholar” on my diploma. I also enjoy playing the piano and participating in various school clubs such as Earth Club, Warhawk Interact (a service club), Girl Up (focusing on gender equality throughout the world), DECA, and MSU (Multicultural Student Union).

Thank you so much for taking the time to learn more about me and my passion for volleyball. I hope to hear from you soon!
