6-4 shooting sniper Luke Gillespie from Avon Lake HS (Ohio) is a sleeper in the class of 2026. He clearly showed me why you can’t leave him open. With his size and quick release, it’s easy for him to get his shot off with no issues. Last year against Lorain HS, he made 4 threes on only 5 attempts. He is a very consistent shooter, does an amazing job moving without the basketball, and cuts extremely hard for a player his age. His cuts are at a college level trying to get open or keep the defense moving.
What really impressed me about Luke was his active hands-on defense, getting multiple deflections and steals due to his attention. Going into his senior year, I look for him to take more of a leadership role both in timeouts and through scoring. This kid can go. Luke does a great job finishing at the basket or at the FT line when fouled to convert an easy two points. Every shot I’ve seen him shoot didn’t even touch the rim – all net! Luke is open for his recruitment to any quality program. Academics are important for him, as he currently holds a 3.6 GPA. Overall this kid is a college-level shooter, and with the right team he could make 6-7 threes in a game.

Message from Luke
My name is Luke Gillespie, and I am a 2026 6-foot-4 forward/guard from Avon Lake High School in Ohio. I plan to attend college as a business major and currently hold a 3.6 GPA. I’m a great all-around basketball player on both sides of the ball (10 points/game, 4 rebounds/game, 3 assists/game; scored 15 points four times with a 20-point high). I take pride in my shooting, defense and dedication as a teammate.
When it comes to my friends, family and teammates, I am loyal, respectful and always have their backs. As a senior I’ve stepped up to take a leadership role and bring energy to the floor while bringing out the best in my teammates. Every week, I work with a speed and agility trainer that I see for an hour to make sure my explosiveness is on point. I also have a skills trainer that I see for an hour each week to make sure my ball handling and shooting are elite. I’m in the weight room getting stronger by myself 5 days a week, and I get shots up/work on ballhandling by myself almost every day.
My school excels in academics – ranking 1st in the county and 25th in all of Ohio. I’ve received a Cum Laude GPA award the last 2 years and am currently taking 2 AP courses (Psychology and Environmental Science). I have completed volunteer work and community service hours through PSR for Saint Joseph Parish, and FAITH is an important part of my life.
