Evaluations

5-foot-7, 135 pounds. Level 10 gymnast. Good kid who loves the gym. A gym rat. Has progressed through the years in all events and has very good potential. Has gymnastics in his blood, with his mom being a former NCAA Division I gymnast. Has great desire to learn and master new skills. Needs to physically get stronger and is working on that. Landon’s mental toughness is where it needs to be in order to be a top-notch competitor. Not only works hard for hours in the gym, but does what he needs to do to keep in shape when the coaches aren’t looking. Great teammate and successful in the classroom as well (3.86 GPA). Has the makeup to be a successful student-athlete at the collegiate level.

Currently, Landon is finishing his 8th-grade year in middle school. Projected level for next season: 9/10. Things Landon needs to work on: Gymnastics strength, flexibility, increase the difficulty level in all routines and continue work on his form and consistency. Having said this, he understands this and is making the efforts to get better. Landon is a hard worker and makes corrections regularly when given. Has above average spatial awareness (air sense).  Works very well in a team setting. Demonstrates good drive and determination to be better. Has a great attitude and work ethic. Is very coachable. Has the potential to make big gains this off-season.

Message from Landon

Hello, my name is Landon June. I am a 2024 grad from Oak Creek High School in Wisconsin. During this 2021 season, I am competing in Level 10. I compete for Altius Gymnastics Academy located in Franklin, Wisconsin. I began gymnastics when I was 8 years old and have been competing ever since. I have a 3.6 GPA.

As a Level 6 in 2017, I placed first on parallel bars and all-around at State, and I qualified for Level 6 Regionals, earning a second place all-around.  As a Level 7 in 2018, I again earned a first place all-around at State and also earned first place all-around at Regionals. In 2019 as a Level 8, I took sixth place all-around at State and went on to Regional championships and finished 13th all-around. For this 2020 season as a Level 9, our State meet was canceled from COVID-19, but I was most proud of my all-around finishes from four meets where I was in the top 3.

Skills that I am working on and have begun learning for next season are:

  • High bar: 1/2 in 1/2 out, Healy and vault catch (able to catch; just in need of some form improvements) and Stalder.
  • Pommel horse: Magyar and Czechkehr.
  • Rings: 1/2 in 1/2 out, straddle phlanche and front giants.
  • Parallel bars: Double back, Stutz and Diamidov.
  • Floor: Triple full and double back.
  • Vault: Kaz.

I believe what sets me apart from other gymnasts is my ability to work through adversity.  I have overcome obstacles that most kids my age have not had to.  I began gymnastics later in life than most gymnasts and have always had to work harder to play catch up.

I wish to compete at the collegiate level, while I study to become a veterinarian, with an undergraduate major in the sciences considering zoology. I recognize that I have a great deal to learn in order to be considered a valuable member of a collegiate team and part of the lineup. However, I will continue to work hard and look forward to sending updated videos as I improve my skill set.
