Evaluations

Kelsi Gaston is a 2022 IFC from Nebraska. While she’s not a kid that’s gonna burn up the bases with speed, but she is a kid that gets to trot them often with the big powerful swing she brings. Solid 3-4 hole type hitter who will generate lots of RBI. Solid on the bags, too, making any hitter harder to get on. She’s all out all the time! The skill set is definitely there to be a huge asset on any roster. But the intangibles that Kelsi brings are what the things every coach looks for. She’s vocal and competitive and her teammates respect her. While she’s all business when necessary, she’s also a happy-go-lucky kid who takes life in stride. Hard working and driven but the dirt is definitely her happy place.

Message from Kelsi

Hello, my name is Kelsi Gaston, and I am a right-handed 3B/UTL from Geneva, NE. I am currently enrolled at Garden City Community College (3.9 GPA), and I play 3B/1B with the Broncbusters. Although my primary position is 3B, I can play any position that my team and coach need me at. I have also pitched some and continue to practice pitching to expand my skill set (can be used in relief if urgently needed). I am a 2022 Fillmore Central H.S. graduate with a 3.4 GPA. I was a 4-year varsity starter and received Nebraska All-State and 1st-Team SNC All-Conference, as well as York News Times All-Area Team. I have been voted Team MVP, in addition to Best Teammate and Jr. Coach.

Due to taking multiple classes in high school, as well as a heavy load my first year in college, I am looking to transfer and continue my education and athletic career at a 4-year school to allow me to begin taking upper-level classes. My goal is to find a team that I can help on the field with my glove and at the plate with my bat. I also want to find a college with a strong academic program in sports medicine or exercise science. Upon graduation, I also hope to be a Graduate Assistant Coach while I’m working towards my master’s degree.

I take great pride in my statistics on the field, but even more so is being a great teammate and mentor. I was a multi-sport athlete at FCHS. I played basketball in the winter, and I was on the track team in the spring. I also play club softball in the summer with Top Gun Gold 18U-Thompson. In college, I am on the softball team as well as a member of the GCCC Sports Med team. I have played softball for as long as I can remember, and while playing, I developed a passion and love for the game. I enjoy the competitiveness of everyone on the field as we all strive to be the best for our team. The team goals, the victories and losses bring unity that I love. I especially value the friendships that I’ve made throughout the years.

When I am not playing softball, I work at a local restaurant, coach 12U/14U softball teams and umpire baseball and softball games in the summer. I am also involved with several community projects, such as helping with the soup kitchen at church and volunteering to deliver meals.

Thank you for taking the time to learn a little bit about me. I look forward to hearing from you, and I’m excited about the possibility of joining your softball program and school.
