Varsity letter and starter

Kelsi Gaston is a 2022 IFC from Nebraska Quakes Prime 18U-Pechar. While she’s not a kid that’s gonna burn up the bases with speed, but she is a kid that gets to trot them often with the big powerful swing she brings. Solid 3-4 hole type hitter who will generate lots of RBI. Solid on the bags, too, making any hitter harder to get on. She’s all out all the time! The skill set is definitely there to be a huge asset on any roster. But … the intangibles that Kelsi brings are what the things every coach looks for. She’s vocal and competitive and her teammates respect her. While she’s all business when necessary, she’s also a happy-go-lucky kid who takes life in stride. Hard working and driven but the dirt is definitely her happy place. — Jason Lauren, ScoutU Scout, 414-303-7607 (cell),

Message from Kelsi

Hello, my name is Kelsi Gaston. I am a 2022 right-handed 3B/utility from Geneva, NE. I attend Fillmore Central High School (3.4 GPA). My primary position is 3B, but I can play any position that my team and coach needs me at. I have also pitched some in relief and continue to practice pitching to expand my skill set. I am a three-year varsity starter. I have received Nebraska All-State and SNC All-Conference Honorable Mention as well as York News Times All-Area team. I led my team in multiple categories, along with being named Best Teammate and Jr. Coach.

My goal is to play softball in college while earning a degree in either a Speech-Language Pathology or Child/Sports Psychology. I also hope to be a Graduate Assistant Coach while I am working towards my Master’s degree.

I take great pride in my statistics on the field, but even more so being a great teammate and mentor. I am a multi-sport athlete at FCHS. I play basketball in the winter, and I am on the track team in the spring. During the winter and spring sports seasons, I also practice and play club softball in the summer with Nebraska Quakes Prime 18U-Pechar.

I have played softball for as long as I can remember. While playing, I developed a passion and love for the game. I enjoy the competitiveness of everyone on the field as we all strive to be the best for our teams. The team goals, the victories and losses bring unity that I love. I especially value the friendships that I have made throughout the years.

During my early years of playing, I usually had to play up on older teams and with older girls, because we didn’t always have enough girls at my age. I think this helped me push myself to compete at a higher level and try to be just as good or better than the older players. One of my earliest memories of softball is when my local team won our SLS League 14U Championship. I had to come up and play with them as a 10U player. That was a game I will never forget!

When I am not playing softball, I work at a local salon and am a lifeguard at our local pool. I am also involved with several community projects, such as helping with the soup kitchen at church and volunteering to deliver meals.

Thank you for taking the time to learn a little bit about me. I am looking forward to hearing from you, and I’m excited about the possibility of joining your softball program.
