Evaluations

5-foot-7, 120 pounds. Point guard/shooting guard. Clara is an elite talent (3-time All-Conference). Excellent court vision to find open teammates. Oftentimes makes “wow” and “ooh” passes (sees openings most others don’t; watch her video to see some of them!). Can make behind-the-back passes and wrap-around passes. In transition, looks up court and very quickly moves the ball up court with great court awareness. Great crossover and Euro step to create own shooting space. Versatile shooter. Finds seams in lane to dive to the hoop, goes up strong and patient to find openings (can drive to right or left and shoot with left). Can hit runner in the lane and mid-range jumpers. Nice shooting form with a quick release. Can hit 3s well beyond the arc (catch and shoot, off screens and creating own shot). Very tenacious on defense. Reads passes well and has quick feet to get steals. Strong on-ball defender. Strong ballhandler with both hands (has been dribbling since 3 years old!), can go behind the back with ease and is very fast with the ball. Working to improve rebounding (more aggressive) and off-ball defense (sometimes loses player guarding). Strong work ethic (goes to the gym often, practices ballhandling at home, has weight-training class at school). Student of the game (watches and studies herself, wants to watch her game ASAP afterwards to learn how she can improve; likely a future coach!). VERY goal-oriented and driven. Natural leader (encourages teammates). Excellent student (4.0 GPA, pre-med).  — Jason Lauren, ScoutU Scout, 414-303-7607 (cell), Jason@ScoutU.com

Message from Clara

My name is Clara Dempsey. I am a 2026 5-foot-7 point guard from Clinton Community H.S. (IL). My cumulative GPA is 4.0. I want to study Pre-Medicine, with my focal point being nutrition and health science. I am a devoted worker who puts my teammates above myself by lifting them up and encouraging them. I was named All-Conference and All-Area each of the last three years and All-State Special Mention during my junior year. As a senior, I’m averaging 16 points, 4.1 assists, 2.5 rebounds and 2.2 steals per game.   Practice is one of my favorite things. I love working on fundamentals daily. I get in the gym anytime I can to get shots up. I watch film religiously, not only of my games, but opponents and even players I look up to. I put the student in student-athlete. I study and devote equal energy to academics and sports. I have maintained my 4.0 average while taking advanced and AP classes.   While being an elite student-athlete, my time involves countless other blessings. I’ve been able to train, coach and lead youth camps. I am currently acting as an assistant coach for my junior high basketball program. I also have multiple girls with whom I reiterate fundamentals, shooting, etc. Outside of basketball, I am involved in my community and school through a student bible study, nursery worker at church, junior class president and volunteering at various events throughout the school year.   Thank you for taking your time to learn a little more about the kind of person I am and what I bring to the table. I hope to hear from you soon!
