Evaluations
6-foot-0, 165 pounds. 2027 point guard/shooting guard. Athletic and quick. Smart player. Excellent court vision and playmaker (no-look passes, keeps eyes up court, pushes ball up court on fast breaks, excellent at getting the ball into the post with curve bounce passes, can deliver accurate alley-oop passes). Reads the floor well. Quick release on shot and a 3-point threat. A good amount of his points come from 3-pointers, but can also drive to the hoop to the right or left and draw fouls. Excellent free-throw shooter (89%). Good jumping ability. Can adjust mid-air. Very good at catch and shooting, but can also create own shot with ball screens, hesitation move, dribbling between legs and crossovers. Dribbles well with both hands with the ability to go between his legs with ease. Good speed with the ball. Has great instincts to get steals. Very aggressive on defense. Pressures and knows when to reach and jab. Working to improve shooting through contact when driving to the hoop and driving to the hoop more often. Strong work ethic (goes to shooting cages and gets about 1,000 shots a week in). Cross country runner, so has very good endurance. Leader. Great attitude, even when losing. Good student (3.6 GPA). Undecided on college major.

Message from Carson
My name is Carson Samson, and I’m a 6’0″, 165-pound combo guard at West De Pere High School (WI) in the 2027 class. I currently hold a 3.6 GPA. What really defines my game is my court vision as I’m always aware of where my teammates and defenders are. I’ve played varsity all three years of high school, and this season I averaged 12.6 points (27-point season high), 5.3 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 2.0 steals per game, earning All-Conference 2nd Team.
With my team-first mentality, I’m big on chemistry and take a lot of pride in being an unselfish player. I work hard to understand my teammates’ styles so I can anticipate their moves and keep our offense flowing. Whether it’s creating shots, crashing the boards, locking in on defense or being the loudest guy on the bench when I’m out, I’m going to do whatever it takes to help us get the win.
Whether I’m on or off the court, basketball is 24/7 for me. Outside of games and practices, I continue my lifting program and put in the extra time getting up 500+ shots per week. I work at a local basketball facility as well as ref youth basketball games, which has helped me see the game from different perspectives.
Academically, I’m just as locked in. I’ve been taking college courses since my sophomore year and know how to balance a heavy workload of school, work and sports without letting my GPA slide.
