Evaluations

Brady Scott is a high-achieving student-athlete with a 90% academic average who demonstrates the discipline and focus required for college baseball. A primary catcher, Brady’s strengths are his advanced blocking and receiving skills, combined with a strong, accurate arm. He throws 80 mph behind the plate and up to 90 mph overhand, showing elite arm strength for the position, and also brings experience at first base and on the mound, where he’s thrown in the low 80s. A three-time Johnny Bench Top Catcher Award winner, Brady is a Team British Columbia and BC Summer Games athlete who utilizes modern one-knee-down catching mechanics and consistently competes at a high level.   Brady’s leadership and intangibles distinguish him as a standout prospect. He is a student of the game, a cognitive learner and a highly competitive athlete who is routinely the first to arrive and last to leave. He is a positive, respected teammate who actively lifts those around him, reinforced by his experience as an umpire and coach, which has strengthened his game awareness and professionalism. With his work ethic, composure, multi-position ability and strong character, Brady Scott projects as a college-ready catcher for many programs. — Susan Kemper, ScoutU Scout, Susan@ScoutU.com, 604-808-5215   Brady Scott is a right-handed hitting C/1B, with the ability to throw strikes from the mound. He demonstrates a high level of maturity, leadership and baseball IQ. He has a strong physical frame, moves well for his size and consistently competes with confidence and composure, projecting well to the university level. Offensively, Brady has a short, compact swing with good bat-to-ball skills. He shows a mature approach at the plate, understands the strike zone, and consistently puts together quality at-bats. His swing is efficient and repeatable, allowing him to make frequent hard contact. As his physical strength continues to develop, his offensive impact should continue to grow.   Defensively, Brady brings versatility and reliability. As a catcher, he shows a strong, accurate throwing arm and solid receiving skills. He demonstrates leadership behind the plate, manages the game well, and is always thinking ahead to the next play. At first base, he shows good hands, footwork and awareness around the bag, consistently making routine plays and handling pressure situations. His calm demeanor allows him to control the pace of the game and provide stability whenever he’s on the field.   As Brady continues to mature physically and gains strength, he will need to work on his footspeed and agility. Improving overall mobility will improve his durability and long-term athletic development. Continued emphasis on core strength rotational speed will help increase power and efficiency at the plate and in his throwing.   One of his greatest strengths is his makeup. Brady is a true student of the game who’s always looking to improve and learn. He has a tremendous work ethic, consistently hustles, and leads by example. He takes initiative, communicates well with teammates, and carries himself with maturity and professionalism. His calm presence and leadership qualities make him a dependable player in high-pressure situations. With continued development, Brady projects as a player who can contribute at the university level. His team-first mindset and approach will make him an asset to any roster – and with his eagerness to learn and improve his game – I know he will transition seamlessly into college baseball. — Liam Rihela, Kamloops Minor Baseball Development Director

Message from Brady

My name is Brady Scott. I am a 2027 student-athlete from JL Jackson Secondary in Salmon Arm, BC, Canada. I’m a 6’2”, 205-pound primary catcher, secondary first baseman, and I also have pitching experience. I am currently in my second year playing college prep with Kamloops Minor Baseball. My GPA is a 3.85.   For my size, I move really well – I’m quick for a big guy, and I take pride in that. I have a solid arm, while receiving and blocking are the best parts of my defensive game. I am serious about my work ethic and attitude. I’m a leader on and off the field, and I understand how much body language, energy and mindset can impact a team. Those things win or lose games just as much as talent does.   In the offseason, I play basketball to stay agile, fit and competitive. I lift 3–5 times a week, mixing basic strength and bodybuilding work with baseball specific training. I stretch 5–7 times a week and hit or throw every day. During the season, on top of practices and games, I work on my game daily – hitting and throwing 4–7 days a week, alternating lifting and cardio, and stretching every day.   Academically, I’m currently taking Pre-Calculus 12 and have interests in accounting and physics. I’m on track to graduate with a dual-language diploma in French and English while making the Principle’s List. I’m also part of my school’s athletic leadership program and volunteer as a coach with Salmon Arm Minor Baseball.   I’ve been playing baseball since I was 4, and once I started, there was no turning back. By the time I was 9, I knew I wanted to play college baseball after high school, and that goal has shaped how I train, how I compete and how I carry myself. For me, combining a good education with the game I love isn’t just a plan, it’s the future I’m chasing. Thank you for taking the time to learn about me and for considering me as a potential player in your program.
