Evaluations

Alissa Smitheram is an academically strong student-athlete with a 3.5 GPA, balancing the demands of varsity athletics with proven success in the classroom. On the field, she is a versatile utility player, excelling primarily as a catcher with a 1.8 pop time, while also contributing confidently at 3B and across nearly every position. Her defensive skills are complemented by her powerful arm, quick reaction time, and ability to see the whole field with clarity and control. At the plate, Alissa demonstrates an advanced swing, consistently hitting hard line drives and ground balls into gaps to move runners, while also continuing to build on her power potential. She combines speed, agility and strength to make an impact in all facets of the game, showing tools that translate directly to success at the next level.   What makes Alissa stand out even further are her intangibles. Despite often being one of the youngest athletes on her team, she naturally assumes a leadership role, guiding pitchers and teammates with her strong voice and commanding presence behind the plate. She has a high softball IQ, anticipating not just the play but the next play, and thrives under pressure situations where her composure and decision-making shine. Alissa is a student of the game, constantly seeking improvement through lessons, camps and training outside of team practices. Her work ethic, humility, and competitive drive are balanced with a positive energy that teammates rely on, both in the dugout and on the field. Dedicated, coachable and hungry to achieve, Alissa embodies the complete package of academic excellence, athletic talent and leadership qualities that NCAA coaches seek. — Susan Kemper, ScoutU Softball Scout, Susan@ScoutU.com, 604-808-5215

Message from Alissa

My name is Alissa Smitheram, and I go to Alameda High School (CA) in the class of 2028. I’m 5’4” and my primary position is catcher (1.8 pop, 58 mph arm), while I also play middle infield or can be a utility. I currently have a 3.4 GPA and would like to major in the medical field, criminology or architecture.   Something that makes me stand out is how my hitting contact point on the ball is really strong (67 mph exit velocity). As an individual athlete, I set myself apart from other girls with my drive and energy on and off the field. I see my hitting and catching coach twice a week, and I also hit every day for at least 30 mins (working on basic fundamentals).   This year I’m currently taking AP world history and plan to take AP U.S. history, AP biology or AP chemistry, AP language, and sports medicine my junior year. Besides sports and academics, I play for my school’s flag football team, volunteer as a kid’s ministry helper at my local church, donate money to Meals on Wheels (for 5 years now), and am also the communications officer for my school’s International Food Club!   Thank you for taking the time to get to know me, and I hope we can talk soon.
