Al Backey, who lives in the Los Angeles area, was born and raised in Southeastern Michigan. He played football at the University of Michigan as a wide receiver and defensive back. Currently, Al is coaching, scouting and developing athletes in Southern California while teaching sports management classes at UCLA during the summer. Al spent much of his pro career in the Arena Football League with the Philadelphia Soul, Saginaw Sting, Chicago Eagles and Port Huron Patriots. He also attended camps in the Canadian Football League with the Edmonton Eskimos and Winnipeg Blue Bombers along with a few workouts for the Detroit Lions and Cincinnati Bengals out of college.

Al has created a nationwide training business in 2017 that involves sports-specific training as well as helping hundreds of athletes get to the collegiate level. He has been training with the consistency of science, biomechanics and medical rehabilitation for over 13 years. He has recruited/scouted thousands of athletes and trained over 50 different high school teams across Michigan, Ohio, Georgia and California, including NCAA Division-II Walsh University basketball and Malone University volleyball teams. Al also has worked with NFL pros, NHL/minor league teams, like the Detroit Red Wings, and the New York Mets in the MLB. Al specializes in position training and programming, starting from elite youth all the way up to pros/Olympians with strength training and speed development.

After a few years of professional football, Al landed a shooting guard position over in Canada Express Basketball team along with a few traveling minor league teams in the Midwest. Once competing professionally came to an end, he received a Masters of Arts degree in sports administration from Central Michigan University. He built up multiple sport performance franchises along with directing local government recreation programming in Northern Ohio, metro Detroit and San Jose, Calif.
