Shooting a 70 in his final round as a senior was a great way to cap Alexander Eckstein’s high school career. Now he’s looking forward to the collegiate level after recently signing with Malone University, an NCAA Division II school in Canton, OH.
“The coaches at Malone are truly family,” Eckstein said. “They made the entire process so comfortable and easy to work with that I found it almost impossible to turn down.”
Eckstein posted top-10 finishes at the State Championship each of the last three years, including 2nd-place medals in 2023 and 2025. With a 74 scoring average and his swing speed of 113 mph, he should quickly adjust to collegiate golf layouts.
“Alex is extremely talented and has put a lot of work on and off the course,” ScoutU’s DJ Blanks said. “He couldn’t wait to start talking with college coaches, did it the right way and listened to all my advice for getting scholarships. I’m really proud of you Alex!”
The Pioneers already have a strong program, finishing 6th at the NCCAA National Championship last October. Malone is adding an exceptional student-athlete (3.44 GPA) who got a late start to the recruiting process but earned a scholarship with the right guidance.
“I am beyond thrilled to have this opportunity to continue my career,” Eckstein said. “At some points, I thought I’d never be able to continue my career into college, but I am extremely grateful for the opportunity that Malone and ScoutU have given me.”
