After winning back-to-back Conference Player of the Year awards, Nina Lang proved that she’s one of the top golfers in Wisconsin. With her recent commitment to the University of Wisconsin–Green Bay, it’s going to stay that way.
“I’m beyond thrilled to play college golf and join a program where I feel like I belong,” Lang said. “Just a year ago, I wasn’t sure what opportunities were ahead, but everything has fallen into place perfectly. I can’t wait to take this next step and grow as both a player and a student.”
In the midst of a junior season when she won the WIAA Regional (74) and finished top-25 at State, Lang started working with ScoutU to explore her college options. She received offers from schools ranging from Minnesota to New York before deciding that her home state was where she belonged.
“Since joining ScoutU, I’ve been in contact with over 100 schools!” Lang said. “ScoutU helped me get my name out there and connect with programs I might not have reached on my own. I’m so grateful for the journey that led me to UWGB.”
While there are over 270 NCAA Division I women’s golf programs, only two reside in Wisconsin. Lang will join fellow ScoutU alumni Jordan Shipshock on the Phoenix.
“I felt very welcome from the moment I met Coach Reinke,” Lang said. “Their team culture is unlike any other school I have seen or met. All the girls seem so supportive, driven and encouraging. Coach Reinke creates so many opportunities and seems like he truly invests in each of the players – both on and off the course. Combined with excellent practice facilities and strong academic resources, I knew UWGB was the perfect fit.”
ScoutU’s Jon Feyen has now guided 14 golfers to D1 programs. This year presented a new challenge with the NCAA enforcing roster limits of 9 players per team.
“It’s been a blast watching Nina compile all these accolades during the past year!” Feyen said. “She did a fantastic job on the course while also researching her college choices and going on several visits. UW-Green Bay is a program on the upswing, and I’m sure Nina will be a big part of their future success.”
This week, Lang capped her high school career with a 7th-place finish at the WIAA State Tournament. Following a 79 on day one, she posted a 72 (including -2 on the back nine) during her final round.
“Jon Feyen and ScoutU had a huge impact on my recruiting journey,” Lang said. “They provided guidance on how to approach coaches, helped me present my skills in the best light, and gave me confidence throughout the process. I wouldn’t have had the opportunities or exposure without their support.”
