Many recruits go into their senior season unsure of their college future, and that can bring unwanted pressure along with stress. Jordyn Schmittdiel will not be one of those athletes. Recently, the 2024 small forward committed to Northern Michigan University, an NCAA Division II school.

“I am super excited to play at the next level,” Schmittdiel said. “It has always been my dream to play in college, and it is such a relief knowing that entering my senior year I am committed!”

Schmittdiel made a name for herself at White Bear Lake H.S. (Minn.) last season, averaging over 14 points and 10 rebounds. She was voted Team MVP and All-State Honorable Mention after leading her squad to a 22-5 record.

“I think Jordyn has the potential to be an impact player at NMU,” ScoutU’s Jason Lauren said. “She is fast and athletic for a 6-foot player and is very versatile. She can play as a guard with her excellent ballhandling abilities or in the post with her height and rebounding skills. I’m excited to see how she does during her college career!”

Northern Michigan currently owns a 9-4 record after posting a winning season during 2022-23.

“What stood out about NMU was the coaching staff and the team morale!” Schmittdiel said. “I loved coach Casey (Thousand) and coach Jordan (Sweeney) – they had a major impact in my decision!”

Schmittdiel had a handful of colleges call her in the first month of working with ScoutU. Her family is looking forward to Jordyn joining another strong team when she suits up for the Wildcats next fall.

“Thank you to ScoutU and Jason for your help and knowledge with the recruitment process,” said Cindy Schmittdiel, Jordyn’s mom. “Jordyn committed shortly after signing up with ScoutU, and it was awesome to see how many college coaches reached out via phone call, text or email! It was very helpful talking with Jason, as we learned a lot about the process. Thank you ScoutU!”
