Natalie Fields knows how to get on base, and she also takes care of her academics. It was the combination of those two abilities that led to her committing to Edgewood College, an NCAA Division III school in Wisconsin.

Fields, a 2022 second baseman/pitcher from Oak Creek, Wis., batted .415 with 80 hits, 68 runs and 11 stolen bases during the 2020 club season. She was a big factor in the Queen of Diamonds 16U capturing first place at the NAFA State Championship.

“Natalie is a two-way player,” ScoutU’s Jason Lauren said. “She slaps, has good speed and plays a solid second base. In the circle, she uses good accuracy, movement and spin to get batters out. Not only is Natalie a talented softball player, she also is very bright in the classroom!”

In addition to compiling a 4.1 GPA, Fields scored a 31 on the ACT. She is planning to major in psychology. Fields is looking forward to her collegiate experience, both on and off the diamond.

“Edgewood has a fantastic campus in the middle of an amazing city!” she said. “The coaches and the players are all so welcoming and kind.”

Fields runs from home to first base in less than 3 seconds – a skill that definitely translates to the next level. She also owns a 56 mph throwing arm.

“I got offers from four other Division III programs,” Fields said. “Jason and ScoutU gave me the opportunity to be contacted by so many schools I never would have known about otherwise. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to play softball and further my academic career at Edgewood!”

ScoutU specializes in opening doors for high school prospects. Once those doors are open, the student-athlete needs to walk through and claim that opportunity.

“Natalie was a pleasure to help with her recruiting,” Lauren said. “She was on top of keeping in touch with coaches and utilizing ScoutU to let college coaches know where she was playing.”
