Some college prospects don’t receive any offers to play at the next level. Others have several options and take a long time to choose where they will attend. Reganne Henning fit neither of those descriptions, and she fell in love with the University of Northwestern-St. Paul as soon as she visited the school.
Henning, a 2021 second baseman, recently committed to the NCAA Division III college in Minnesota after receiving two other offers.
“I felt super comfortable the moment I stepped on campus,” Henning said. “The very first person we met knew exactly where my hometown in Nebraska was. Everyone I talked to was more than happy to talk about why the University of Northwestern-St. Paul was so great. The girls on the softball team I met were really awesome. They answered all of my questions and even gave me information that I didn’t think to ask about. I just knew the moment I stepped on campus that I would love to go to school there.”
Henning owns a strong arm (60 mph) and good speed to first base (2.9 seconds). ScoutU’s Scott Woodcock projects that she’ll continue improving with the Eagles.
“Reganne has a strong softball IQ that definitely translates well in her talent,” Woodcock said. “She has occasional power to go with her size, but also enough speed to leg an extra base when needed. She projects well and will be a force as she develops.”
Northwestern-St. Paul has posted 25-plus wins during each of the last two full seasons. Henning is grateful that she’s earned the ability to play another four years.
“I’m beyond excited to have an opportunity to play softball in college,” she said. “I feel so blessed to have all the love and support of others to reach this goal. I have dreamed about this since I was a little girl, and now it is finally happening.”
Henning admitted that her odds of reaching the next level greatly increased once she teamed up with a reliable recruiting expert.
“After joining ScoutU, I had phone calls with four colleges,” Henning said. “Before that, I had only talked to one college on the phone. Scott Woodcock and ScoutU impacted my recruiting tremendously. I had no idea where to look for colleges I was interested in and would be a good fit for me. Scott helped me with that, and found colleges that fit what I was looking for. He helped set me up for success, and for that I am very thankful.”
