Before enrolling with ScoutU, Tyler Yetka had not received a phone call from a college coach. That all changed quickly, and by the end of his recruiting, Yetka had talked with about 20 coaches.

Recently, Yetka narrowed it down and committed to play lacrosse at Missouri Valley College, an NAIA school in Marshall, Mo.

“After enrolling with ScoutU, I started to have phone calls almost every day for a couple weeks,” Yetka said. “One thing that really stood out about Missouri Valley was how close the team was with each other. I knew that if I decided to go there, I would never feel like I was at the school alone. I’d always know that I have a group of friends and teammates that will always be there for me. I also felt that the school had exactly what I wanted to study, and they were able to offer a great program for me to do so.”

MVC has an impressive history on the field, compiling a 29-9 record over the last three seasons.

“I feel completely honored that I have the opportunity to play lacrosse in college,” Yetka said. “Although I haven’t been playing this sport my whole childhood, it’s been such a big part of my high school career. I look forward to someday in the future being able to tell my kids that their father played at the collegiate level.”

Yetka received three official offers following a stellar junior campaign at Oak Creek High School, where he tallied 32 goals and eight assists in 12 games.

ScoutU’s Jason Lauren noticed Yetka’s footwork, elusiveness and ability to find his teammates.

“Tyler’s speed and outside shot make him a great goal scorer,” Lauren said. “Tyler is a great athlete, but he’s also an outstanding student with a 4.0 GPA and 27 ACT. I’m so excited that Tyler found a school that is a great fit for him academically and athletically.”

Yetka is appreciative of ScoutU, not just for getting him recognized, but also helping him through every step of the recruiting process.

“Jason was always there to clear up any confusion I would have,” Yetka said. “If I ever had a question that needed to be answered, he would be there to answer it and explain it to me in the most depth. Also, the nationwide emails were very helpful in getting my name out there. After the initial email, it took at least three days to go through my email responding to the colleges and start creating a relationship.”
