Ashley Fauske has positional versatility, great speed and excellent academics. These traits made her an ideal recruit for many softball programs. Recently, Fauske made her decision and committed to Northern State University, an NCAA Division II in South Dakota.

ScoutU’s Jason Lauren knew that Fauske’s quickness (2.75 20-yard dash) is perfect for the top of any lineup.

“Ashley is the versatile slap hitter colleges covet,” Lauren said. “Not only can she power slap, soft slap and drag bunt, but she also bats right handed, making her a weapon at the plate. She is a natural right-handed hitter, but with her 2.75 speed, she switched over to being primarily a slap hitter.”

Fauske, who’s from Kaukauna, Wis., is planning on a veterinary major. She compiled a 3.8 GPA in high school to go with her 27 ACT score. Playing for the NSU Wolves allows her to stay in the Midwest.

“The community atmosphere was obvious when I walked into campus, so I knew I would be happy at Northern State,” Fauske said. “I always wanted to play softball at the highest level and for as long as possible. I’m so incredibly happy to say I will be playing Division II softball.”

Lauren’s scouting report highlighted Fauske’s range and quick feet playing the middle infield positions. He also could tell that she is focused on being a productive student-athlete at the next level.

“Ashley was a great kid to work with for her recruiting,” Lauren said. “She always was right on top of what she needed to do to be successful in the process. I’m sure she will have a great career at Northern State.”

Fauske is grateful she had the chance to evaluate several options before choosing where she’ll play the next four years.

“With ScoutU, I received a lot more attention from schools I didn’t know existed most of the time,” Fauske said. “ScoutU really broadened my options, gave me more options and really helped me understand the recruiting process to another level!”
