Evaluations
Tyson Busch is an explosive 2027 combo guard who can fit into any college system. He brings great value with nearly 40% shooting beyond the arc. Tyson has taken more of a leadership role during his junior year, showing great consistency and averaging 20 points per game.
At 6-foot-1, Tyson also prides himself on his basketball IQ, defensive intensity and grit. While improving his skills driving to the basket, he’s also shown great playmaking ability with multiple 7-assist games this month.
Tyson is committed to gaining strength and maximizing his potential in the coming years. Off the court, he holds a 3.3 GPA. If you’re looking for a great shooter who will compete hard on both ends of the floor, start your search with Tyson Busch.
— Jon Feyen, ScoutU Basketball Scout, Jon@ScoutU.com, 920-979-3093
Tyson has been a three-year varsity performer at Oak Creek High School. With his relentless work ethic on both ends of the floor, tenacious on-ball defense, finishing ability, ball handling, coachability and vision skills for either guard position, there is no doubt in my mind Tyson Busch can excel at the next level.
Consistently, Tyson is the hardest worker on the court in both practices and games. He does not take possessions off. He has the drive and stamina to play the guard position under heavy pressure, as well as defend top guards out on the perimeter. Defensively, he has the ability to turn his man multiple times in the back court and take opposing teams out of their offensive rhythm.
Offensively, Tyson is tasked with being one of our leading scorers and distributors on a nightly basis. He can play PG as well as a 2 guard coming off screens and moving without the ball. He’s very good at dribble penetration and finding shooters on the perimeter as well as finishing at the rim through contact. Tyson also has a very quick release from the three-point line and can score from the outside in bunches.
Tyson is a great young man who takes coaching and constructive criticism. He is also a good student. Tyson is the type of player who takes feedback from coaches and applies it on the court without falling into a trap of negativity. He is a “yes coach” type of player who wants to get better and win games. Overall, Tyson Busch will be a great find for any coach at the next level. He continues to get better, build his frame, and will continue to work on his craft without being content.
— Eric Hollow, Oak Creek HS Head Coach
Tyson Busch is a high-IQ, competitive guard who takes tremendous pride in his defense and overall impact on the game. He is willing and able to defend 94 feet, consistently applying pressure on the ball and making opposing guards uncomfortable. His defensive effort, discipline and mindset set the tone for his team, and he embraces the challenge of guarding top matchups. Tyson’s willingness to compete on every possession reflects his strong character and commitment to winning.
Offensively, Tyson is a high-level shooter who can score efficiently from the perimeter. He shoots the ball at a very high rate and understands shot selection within the flow of the offense. In addition to his shooting ability, he can put the ball on the floor, create advantages, and generate quality opportunities for his teammates. He is a willing and unselfish passer who reads the game well and consistently makes the right play.
Overall, Tyson possesses a complete skill set and advanced basketball IQ that translate well to the college level. He is coachable, dependable and willing to do whatever it takes to be successful within a program. His combination of defensive toughness, offensive versatility and team-first mentality make him a valuable prospect who can contribute and continue to develop at the next level.
— Darvis Lockridge, Racine Truth AAU Coach
When Busch gets his feet set and lets fly with a three-point shot, it’s a surprise when it doesn’t go in. He has become an elite shooter due to his dedication to the game. He scored 27 points in a very competitive contest against a good Buffalo Grove squad. Busch made 6 triples (including a huge one late in the game) and swished all 5 of his foul shots. He does a good job searching for openings in the defense, and it doesn’t take long for him to spot up and shoot from deep. Busch competes with passion and a strong understanding of the game, traits that have served Oak Creek very well this season.
