I’ve had the privilege of coaching Susan over the last 2 seasons as the head coach at Fond du Lac High School. She has established herself as one of the best players in the D1 Fox Valley Association Conference. Susan was selected 1st-Team All-FVA utility as a freshman, and in 2023 she was selected 2nd-Team All-FVA at utility. She was also voted Team MVP both seasons. This season, she broke the school record for strikeouts in a game with 18, along with pitching a no-hitter in the same game.
She has a high softball IQ and her game awareness is second to none. Susan has the ability to take over a softball game from the circle or with her bat. She is extremely fundamental and can play many positions on defense well without missing a beat. When the game is on the line, Susan is the type of player you want in that situation – she is extremely competitive and hates losing.
Only a sophomore, she was chosen as team captain this season, due to her work ethic and drive to be the best. Susan is a supportive and caring teammate, a leader by example. Susan is a role model for the youth in our program. She does a great job working with them and sharing her love and knowledge of the game. She is not only a role model on the field but also in the classroom as a high honors student.
When faced with adversity or challenges, she isn’t afraid to put in the work to overcome them. In whatever role she has, each game she does it to the very best of her ability. She understands how to attack hitters – how to set them up to get them out – when pitching.
Susan is a complete softball player, hitting for power as well as average, and she can play multiple positions when needed. A talented, driven and hardworking player who loves the game of softball. She is simply a really good kid and a blessing to have in the lineup. Any program would be lucky to have her.
— Brian Schleif, Fond du Lac H.S. coach
Susan is an incredible talent and teammate, on and off the field. As well as a power-hitting offensive threat every time she steps in the box. The strong-throwing right-hander can make plays from the circle, as well as the corner infield positions with a high level of accuracy. Susan is an extremely coachable, self-motivated athlete, always eager to improve her skills and knowledge of the game. The future business major takes her same dedication from the field to her academics, spending countless hours studying for school. I’ve been honored to have the privilege of coaching her for the past two seasons. I know her talent on the field and in the classroom will lead to great opportunities and success in her future. I look forward to another fun and successful summer with her and her Bandits teammates.
