Evaluations

5-foot-9, 200 pounds. RHP/3B/1B. R/R. A true 2-way player. 62.7 mph fastball. 72 mph exit. At the plate, crushes the ball with 70.5 mph bat speed. Generates power with a good hip turn and using lower half effectively. More of a pull hitter and up-the-middle hitter. Bats No. 4 in lineup as a run-producer. Makes consistent, hard contact. Working on identifying pitches better and hitting to the opposite field. At 3B, talks A LOT and a team leader with the energy she brings. Good arm (59 mph infield). Great reaction time, not afraid to charge on bunts, aware of game situations, strong forehand/backhand. Working to improve arm strength by doing long-tossing. As a pitcher, 4-seam fastball is best pitch (locates very well, tails in on right-hand hitters, strikeout pitch). Riseball 61.1 mph 1206 spin rate) has 1.5-inch movement  Dropball (62.5 mph, 1130 spin rate) has 5.9-inch vertical break. Curveball (61.3 mph) has 6.6-inch vertical break. Changeup (49.6 mph, 905 spin rate) has 9.5-inch vertical break. Working on improving velocity and overall consistency. Strong work ethic. Stays after practice to get more work in and sees a pitching coach. Very coachable and a great kid. Very good student (3.88 GPA). — Jason Lauren, ScoutU Scout, 414-303-7607 (cell), Jason@ScoutU.com

I’ve had the privilege of coaching Susan over the last 2 seasons as the head coach at Fond du Lac High School. She has established herself as one of the best players in the D1 Fox Valley Association Conference. Susan was selected 1st-Team All-FVA utility as a freshman, and in 2023 she was selected 2nd-Team All-FVA at utility. She was also voted Team MVP both seasons. This season, she broke the school record for strikeouts in a game with 18, along with pitching a no-hitter in the same game.

She has a high softball IQ and her game awareness is second to none. Susan has the ability to take over a softball game from the circle or with her bat. She is extremely fundamental and can play many positions on defense well without missing a beat. When the game is on the line, Susan is the type of player you want in that situation – she is extremely competitive and hates losing.

Only a sophomore, she was chosen as team captain this season, due to her work ethic and drive to be the best. Susan is a supportive and caring teammate, a leader by example. Susan is a role model for the youth in our program. She does a great job working with them and sharing her love and knowledge of the game. She is not only a role model on the field but also in the classroom as a high honors student.

When faced with adversity or challenges, she isn’t afraid to put in the work to overcome them. In whatever role she has, each game she does it to the very best of her ability. She understands how to attack hitters – how to set them up to get them out – when pitching.

Susan is a complete softball player, hitting for power as well as average, and she can play multiple positions when needed. A talented, driven and hardworking player who loves the game of softball. She is simply a really good kid and a blessing to have in the lineup. Any program would be lucky to have her.

— Brian Schleif, Fond du Lac H.S. coach

Susan is an incredible talent and teammate, on and off the field. As well as a power-hitting offensive threat every time she steps in the box. The strong-throwing right-hander can make plays from the circle, as well as the corner infield positions with a high level of accuracy. Susan is an extremely coachable, self-motivated athlete, always eager to improve her skills and knowledge of the game. The future business major takes her same dedication from the field to her academics, spending countless hours studying for school. I’ve been honored to have the privilege of coaching her for the past two seasons. I know her talent on the field and in the classroom will lead to great opportunities and success in her future. I look forward to another fun and successful summer with her and her Bandits teammates.

Message from Susan

My name is Susan Vokes, and I am a 5-foot-9 right-handed pitcher and third baseman. I currently hold a 3.88 GPA and belong to the 2025 class at Fond du Lac High School (WI). My goal is to play softball in college while majoring in business management with an emphasis in accounting and financial planning. During my sophomore season, I threw a no-hitter with 18 strikeouts on my way to All-Conference honors and being named Team MVP. My 4-seam fastball is 62.7 mph with a 5.8-inch vertical break, my 2-seam fastball is 61.4 mph with a 9.6-inch vertical break and my bat speed is 70.5 mph with a 71.6 mph exit velocity.

I have the talent and drive to compete at a high level but understand that will only get you so far. I have a strong understanding of the game, along with a work ethic I know will take me to the next level of college ball. Five to six days a week, I work on some aspect of my game: tee work, hitting, pitching, fielding, long-toss, weight training, sprints and conditioning. I am an Honor Roll student who takes AP coursework while participating in Youth Apprenticeship where I work as a bank teller. I also volunteer with students with severe intellectual disabilities and lead as a captain on my varsity team. I am definitely one of the loudest on the field, cheering on my teammates!

I greatly appreciate you taking the time to view my profile, and I look forward to future conversations!
