Evaluations

5-foot-9, 145 pounds. OF. R/R. Quick swing. Uses lower half well to generate power. Hits to all fields and has excellent pitch selection. Working on not pulling her front elbow. In the OF, reads the ball very well and takes good angles to the ball. Working on improving speeds by doing speed/agility drills and workouts. Strong work ethic. Sees a trainer, hits in her basement, friend has pitching machine uses often. Great attitude, even when having a bad game. Very good student (3.7 GPA). — Jason Lauren, ScoutU Scout, 414-303-7607 (cell), Jason@ScoutU.com   Summer has been in the Kaukauna softball program for the past 10 years. She is a tremendous athlete who has every personality and character trait to not only be successful on the field, but also in any endeavor she chooses off the field. Summer represents one of those very rare athletes who has worked extremely hard on her on-the-field skills, while also developing and perfecting attributes that make her a leader and someone who will always make those around her better athletes, and more importantly better people.   On the field, Summer is a tremendous athlete who has always dedicated herself to be the best physically, so she can perform above and beyond her personal expectations and those of her teammates and coaching staff. She has been a key figure in making Kaukauna Fastpitch one of the best programs in the Midwest, and has allowed our small city to compete at the highest levels. Summer has and always will be one of those athletes that ensure everyone is focused on the goal at hand. Her dedication, drive and enthusiasm for success are all second to none.   Summer has been a 2-year varsity letter winner for Kaukauna. This is a very rare occurrence in our program as we have a tremendous amount of quality players year in and year out. This year, Summer started every game for us and flourished. She was voted as a Second-Team All-Conference player, even though she carried a .987 fielding percentage and .448 batting average, which was third highest for outfielders in the FVA. Summer really showed up in some big games and carried our team at times, which allowed us to compiled a state-record 81 game winning streak and our third straight WIAA State Title. Summer is a key piece to our high school team that is right now ranked top 10 in the nation, and I believe has a shot at tying the state record with 4 consecutive titles.   Off the field, Summer has always displayed high moral conduct and virtues. The same leadership skills Summer displays on the field are also very evident in the classroom and all of the co-curricular activities she is involved in. Summer is always striving to be the best, and she again has the personality and vision to make those around her better students and more importantly better people. Summer is an excellent example of what young student-athletes should aspire to be. She is known for displaying integrity, class and leadership in all of her endeavors at Kaukauna High School. — Tim Roehrig, Kaukauna Softball Coach   I have known Summer for about 3 years, as she’s played for the Bandits Organization since she was 14 years old. She is a very dedicated player and works hard to be the best she can be. She is energetic, dynamic, and a pleasure to be around and to coach. I coach her travel ball team, and we are on a great summer schedule that takes us around the country to play softball. We are very successful, and Summer is a major part of our success. She is one of the best outfielders we have in our program. She is a clutch performer and comes through time and time again when you need her. Summer is just a very gifted athlete. Her strengths include how she’s an excellent hitter especially in clutch situations and one of our smartest base runners. She has excellent outfield skills with a good arm. The only thing that Summer needs to work on is her communications skills on the field.   As a person Summer is even better than I have described above. She is dedicated, motivated, has the ability to make her teammates better, and she always does it with a smile on her face. Summer would be an asset to any program or organization that she wants to be a part of. Summer is what a student-athletes should be – smart and hardworking. I hope you consider Summer for any scholarship or position with your school. — Roger Schliewe, WI Bandits 16U Gold Coach

Message from Summer

My name is Summer Schmidt. I am 5-foot-9,145-pound 2025 right fielder at Kaukauna High School in Wisconsin. I earned 2nd-Team All-Conference during my junior and sophomore years. As a junior, I had a .396 BA, .463 OBP, .458 SLG and .921 OPS. My cumulative GPA is a 3.7.   Something that stands out about me is I am a positive person. If I am not doing good, I will make sure I don’t bring negative energy onto others. I will also pick someone up if they are down. Something I am very good at is tracking a ball down. I understand where the ball is going to go, and I know right away what angle to take. Outside of practice, I go to the gym to get stronger all around and also work on my hitting year round. With my strength trainer, we work on speed to get faster. I earned high honors in 6th, 7th, 8th, and freshman year. I also have made food for the homeless through church.   Thank you for taking the time to read about me. I look forward to talking with you in the future!
