Message from Sophia

My name is Sophia Vincent, and I’m a 2029 recruit from Victoria, BC. I’m 5’5” and mainly play as a pitcher (60 mph fastball; 227 K in 94 IP), but I can also play middle IF and outfield. I’m balancing school and sports with a 4.0 GPA, and I’m focused on improving in both so I can do well in high school and beyond.

What makes me different as an athlete is my discipline and work ethic. I train 5 days a week, working on strength, conditioning and pitching mechanics. I also practice fielding and my position skills to become a more versatile player. I study game footage to improve my strategy and adjust during games. For hitting, I work with a coach on my plate discipline to keep contributing to the team. Last season I had a .629 batting average.

Softball is my main sport, but I also play hockey. I used to play competitive hockey but switched to a rec team to focus more on softball. I still train 4 days a week on the ice, especially on power skating to help with my explosiveness, agility and endurance, which helps my softball performance. I’ve also started umpiring for my fastball league, which has helped me gain more confidence, better communication and quick decision-making.

All these experiences have helped me become a hardworking, well-rounded athlete and student. I’m excited to keep growing academically and in sports as I prepare for the next level. Thank you for reading, and I look forward to discussing any future opportunities as a student-athlete.
