Message from Sophia

My name is Sophia Vincent, and I’m a 2029 recruit from Victoria, BC. I’m 5’6” and primarily play as a pitcher, where I throw a 61 mph fastball and recorded over 300 strikeouts last season. I can also contribute as a middle infielder and outfielder. At the plate, I hit for a .360 average with a 76 mph exit velocity.   I’m balancing school and sports with a 4.0 GPA, and I’m focused on improving in both so I can succeed in high school and beyond. What sets me apart as an athlete is my discipline, work ethic and ability to stay calm under pressure. I train 5 days a week, focusing on strength, conditioning and pitching mechanics. I also work on fielding and position skills to become a more versatile player. I study both my own game footage and college softball games to improve my strategy, understand different approaches, and make in-game adjustments. At the plate, I work with a hitting coach to refine my swing and improve my plate discipline so I can consistently contribute to my team’s offense.   Outside of playing, I’ve started umpiring which has helped me build confidence, improve my communication skills, and make quick decisions under pressure.   All these experiences have helped me grow into a hardworking, composed and well-rounded athlete and student. I’m excited to continue developing both academically and athletically as I prepare for the next level. Thank you for reading, and I look forward to future opportunities as a student-athlete.
