Evaluations

5-foot-6, 170 pounds. RHP/1B/OF. Bats R. As a pitcher, accuracy and moving around the zone are best strengths. 61 mph fastball. Curveball is best pitch and a swing-and-miss pitch (very accurate, late movement, rises, good spin, gets under hitter’s hands, new catcher’s sometimes have tough time catching it due to being surprised how much it moves). Changeup drops 7 inches low in the zone with good control (can also throw in dirt). Screwball can rise a lot, goes in and up (working on consistency with location so uses as 0-2 pitch). Learning riseball (high ceiling with this pitch due to some of her other pitches already having a rising movement to them). Working on increasing velocity by using weighted balls. Long stride, working on being more fluid and not as tense.   At the plate, can hit for power with fast hands (72 mph exit, 63 mph bat speed). Makes solid contact. Sees the ball well (draws a lot of walks). Usually hits up middle or to opposite field (right). Was a PO for her previous club team, so working on making up for that lost time at the plate. Strong work ethic. 57.6 mph infield velocity (60.0 mph run & gun). In a pitching program 3 times/week, stays after practices and games to get extra work in, weight lifts after school. Good teammate (lifts up teammates when they’re down). Doesn’t get down on herself. Coachable. Quick learner (aided by piano skills — lessons once a week, practices 45 minutes a day and judges competitions). Excellent student (4.4 GPA with AP and Honors courses). — Jason Lauren, ScoutU Scout, 414-303-7607 (cell), Jason@ScoutU.com

Message from Rylee

My name is Rylee Barnett, and I will be a 2026 graduate of Shawnee Mission Northwest High School in Kansas. I have a 4.43 GPA and I am still undecided on my major, but I am considering degrees in Education or Pediatric Sonography. I play competitively out of Kansas City as a RHP/1B for Top Gun 26/27 KC. As a pitcher (61 mph fastball with 1,311 RPM), my ability to keep my composure and focus in tough situations really stands out. My most successful pitches are my changeup and a late-breaking curveball that causes most batters to swing and miss. At the plate, I am a power hitter (72 mph exit, 63 mph bat speed) with fast hands and great contact.   Outside of practice and games, I am enrolled in an advanced weights class during the school day, a daily conditioning program after school, and I have weekly private lessons for both pitching and hitting. Academically, I do very well. I have taken several honors courses that have helped me achieve a weighted GPA of 4.43 and I’m currently taking several AP courses to get a head start on my college coursework.   I enjoy playing the piano. I started playing when I was 6 and have competed every spring for the last 9 years in local, regional and national piano exams. I’m working towards earning the National Guild Paderewski Medal, which honors a 10-piece memorized program with skill requirements, 10 years in a row. This requires a lot of practice, focus and perseverance, which I’ve been able to apply to all areas of life. I feel like my work ethic at an early age is one of the reasons I’ve been able to achieve such success both on and off the field.   I know this is a busy time for college coaches. I truly appreciate you visiting my profile and considering me as a prospective athlete for your program.
