Rowan Smith is a highly skilled and driven softball player with an impressive combination of athletic talent and academic excellence, boasting a 4.7 GPA. She has been playing softball since age 5, developing into a versatile athlete who excels as a pitcher, shortstop and second baseman. With five years of pitching experience, Rowan has consistently proven herself as one of the top pitchers in District Championships, a testament to her work ethic and commitment to her craft. She has also achieved podium placements at the provincial level for two consecutive years, showcasing her ability to compete at the highest levels.
Rowan is a power hitter with some of the top offensive stats on her team. Even in pressure situations, she remains locked in, rarely striking out and consistently delivering clutch hits. Her ability to perform under pressure is a defining trait, and she thrives when the game is on the line. Rowan’s strong work ethic is evident in her dedication to private pitching instruction and her continuous improvement of her skills, including mastering a variety of pitches to build confidence in the circle.
As a teammate Rowan leads by example, maintaining focus and composure in high-stress situations. Her coachability and willingness to seek feedback make her a valuable asset to any team. Rowan’s cognitive approach to the game, combined with her determination and competitive drive, makes her a well-rounded player who consistently gives 110%. I highly recommend Rowan Smith from our Langford Fastball U15B program. Rowan’s exceptional skills, mental toughness, work ethic and leadership make her a standout player with the potential to excel at higher levels of competition. Despite facing a challenging hip injury during the 2024-25 season, Rowan displayed remarkable resilience and commitment to her recovery. Her dedication to rehabilitation not only strengthened her physically but also solidified her role as a leader within our team.
Rowan’s performance pitching was outstanding with 94 innings this year, showcasing a 3.20 ERA, 135 strikeouts and 31 walks. She possesses a diverse selection of a fastball, changeup, rise ball, and drop ball. Her fastball currently sits in the low 50s. Moreover, Rowan’s hitting abilities are equally impressive, boasting a .500 average, .627 on-base percentage and a 1.200 OPS. Her disciplined approach at the plate is evident in her minimal strikeout rate of only 8 times and 110 AB.
What sets Rowan apart is not just her statistics but her exceptional attitude and work ethic. She consistently seeks additional practice time, demonstrates a strong commitment to improvement, and uplifts her teammates with her positive demeanor. In addition to her pitching and hitting prowess, Rowan’s defensive skills at 2B/SS are reliable, showcasing her versatility on the field. While she excels in various aspects of her game, there is always room for growth, particularly in enhancing her mobility and quickening her throws on the infield. If you seek a dedicated player who embodies resilience, leadership, commitment and a relentless drive for improvement, Rowan Smith is the ideal choice.
