Paetyn’s unique blend of composure, ambition and skill makes her a promising athlete with the potential to achieve great success on and off the field. — Susan Kemper, ScoutU Softball Scout, Susan@ScoutU.com, 604-808-5215   Hitting – Puts bat on the ball. Lots of singles and some extra-base hits. Quick bat speed through the zone. Solid contact and hits the ball hard. Good plate discipline. Can swing at high pitches early in the count. Fielding – Good hand/eye coordination. Strong footwork getting into proper position for grounders. Lateral range is okay; Better suited for corner IF or an OF spot. Accurate arm and good form with lots of potential for more strength. Pitching – Fastball at 52 MPH and changeup around 44 MPH. Also throws rise ball, curve and drop ball. Very good control hitting her spots. Rise, curve and drop have good movement. Keeps her composure in the circle, unphased by walks/hits. Knows when to cover bases and how to handle runners. Baserunning – Good form (has worked with sprinting coach for 2 years). Confident on the base paths. Pushes the limits and pressures defense; sometimes it works and sometimes not. Game Situations – Very good at knowing her plays. Confident of where to throw and aware of second plays. Adapts to hitter tendencies and plays shifts well. Responds quickly to instruction. Work Ethic & Attitude – Paetyn is a leader on and off the field. Takes critique well and asks questions. Constantly driving to be better. Asks what she can work on at home. Always the loudest one cheering on her teammates. Uplifts with positive attitude. Can be hard on herself; doesn’t want to disappoint anyone, but quick to apologize. Will do whatever is best for the team. Hardworking and puts everything into the game. — Coach Kristen Fewtrell

Message from Paetyn

I’m Paetyn Reid, and I will be a 2029 graduate of Pitt Meadows Senior Secondary in BC, Canada. I’m 5’8” tall and weigh around 120 lbs. I am a right-handed pitcher who also plays shortstop and second base. I am very dedicated to my goal of playing college softball in the United States.   I am a hardworking athlete and I work on my game every day, above and beyond team practices. I also work weekly with my pitching and hitting coaches outside. I have proven myself as a player who gives her all at each practice and game, establishing myself as a team leader – someone they can count on and trust. I love getting my team amped up and cheering for them on and off the field.   I maintain a 4.0 GPA. I am bilingual in English and French, and I play the piano following the Royal Conservatory of Music curriculum. I also compete on the high school volleyball team. I tested in and enrolled in the gifted program at Pitt Meadows Elementary, which involved extra courses at a local high school for the last 5 years. I enjoyed volunteering for the leadership team in grades 6 and 7, helping with school events.   I fell in love with softball when I was 8 years old and it’s the very best thing that I do. I have my eyes on the prize of playing Division 1 ball while gaining an excellent education. Thank you for taking the time to learn about me and I hope we can connect in the future.
