Paetyn Reid, at 5-foot-6, stands out for her exceptional composure and maturity on the mound. Her remarkable work ethic and determination are truly impressive, especially for her age. In the batter’s box, Paetyn demonstrates patience and a keen eye for pitch selection, showcasing advanced hitting intelligence. Playing for one of the top teams in British Columbia, she benefits from the guidance of some of the province’s best coaches and experts, continually pushing herself to excel and seek new challenges.   Driven by her dream to play Division I softball, Paetyn takes the initiative in her development. She regularly attends tournaments and elite pitching clinics in the United States to refine her skills. Lots of singles and some extra-base hits. Quick bat speed through the zone. Solid contact and hits the ball hard. Good plate discipline. Can swing at high pitches early in the count. Fielding – Good hand/eye coordination. Strong footwork getting into proper position for grounders. Lateral range is okay; Better suited for corner IF or an OF spot. Accurate arm and good form with lots of potential for more strength. Pitching – Fastball at 52 MPH and changeup around 44 MPH. Also throws rise ball, curve and drop ball. Very good control hitting her spots. Rise, curve and drop have good movement. Keeps her composure in the circle, unphased by walks/hits. Knows when to cover bases and how to handle runners. Baserunning – Good form (has worked with sprinting coach for 2 years). Confident on the base paths. Pushes the limits and pressures defense; sometimes it works and sometimes not. Game Situations – Very good at knowing her plays. Confident of where to throw and aware of second plays. Adapts to hitter tendencies and plays shifts well. Responds quickly to instruction. Work Ethic & Attitude – Paetyn is a leader on and off the field. Takes critique well and asks questions. Constantly driving to be better. Asks what she can work on at home. Always the loudest one cheering on her teammates. Uplifts with positive attitude. Can be hard on herself; doesn’t want to disappoint anyone, but quick to apologize.
