Evaluations

Makenna, “Mak,” is any coach’s dream addition with her strong family support, a 4.0 GPA and the work ethic of a true student-athlete. Mak is super athletic, loves to compete and works at it! A strong infielder with a 60 MPH overhand throw and agility to cover a wide range. She hits from the right side (64 MPH exit) and has speed down the line.   Mak enthusiastically approaches her role as a student-athlete. She is a committed teammate and embraces innovative approaches to all programs, not only turning ideas into action but volunteering to share those ideas with her younger peers. She is quick to solicit feedback, provides constructive criticism, is open to learning and takes the time to gather information regarding new ideas and techniques. A true champion of the sport. — Susan Kemper, ScoutU Softball Scout, Susan@ScoutU.com, 604-808-5215   Makenna has been an incredible part of our team since I became the head coach of Fury 07B five years ago. She is a natural leader, and her knowledge of the game is unmatched. She is very strong at the plate, bringing both impressive power and consistent contact, while on defense she brings a good glove and powerful arm. Mak is always eager to learn and wanting to push herself outside of her comfort zone, so she’ll be the first to ask how she can do better next time. She began training as a utility 2 years ago and has thrived in her new role. A true jack-of-all-trades, Mak is the kind of player that you could put almost anywhere and she would be successful. — Rebecca Dafoe, Cloverdale Fury Coach   Mak is super athletic and loves to compete, she brings so much energy to our team and has the versatility to play 1st, middle infield and outfield. Mak is in her second year with Synergy Gold and we could not be happier to have her back.” — Kim Brooks, Synergy Gold Coach, Univ. of Oklahoma Softball (1987-89)

Message from Makenna

My name is Makenna (Mak) Goch. I am from Surrey, British Columbia, Canada, and I am a 2025 graduate with a 4.0 GPA and intend to major in business. I am a 5’9” utility player specializing in infield and more specifically first base. I batted .476 last club season and own a 64 MPH exit velo. For the fall 2023 semester, I am enrolled at Langley Secondary School to attend its softball academy. My home school is Clayton Heights Secondary.   I live and breathe softball. I can’t see my life without it. I play on two teams; I have played for Cloverdale Fury 07B for six years (however I’ve played in the association since I was 4), and Synergy Gold for two years. I would not be where I am without the coaches and teammates that I’ve met along the way. At my softball academy, I train for three hours five days a week. Something I find very valuable there is the softball-specific strength training I receive twice a week. On my own time I have been working on mental training. I have struggled with this in the past and it is a crucial part of the game that I will always be working on. I am an assistant coach to the Cloverdale Fury 2010A team. It’s amazing to see the game from the other side of the lines and learn from the younger athletes. I really enjoy my role as a mentor and love being a part of other athletes’ journeys.   Softball will always be a part of my life and I would like to play for as long as possible. I hope you can be a part of my softball journey. Thank you for your time, and I hope to talk with you soon!
