Evaluations

6-foot-2, 200 pounds. Center/forward. Physically intimidating. Excellent shot blocker (moves well with player guarding) and rebounder (physical and goes gets rebound). Good ball handler for size (can bring ball up court). Most points come in the post (hook shot, drop step, up and under) or layups. Has been working a lot on her mid-range jumper and 3-point shooting, so expects to add more shooting to her offensive game. Good passer. Sets screens well. Strong basketball IQ. Leader on the court. Very vocal. Strong work ethic (does speed/agility/endurance training, footwork drills. Coachable, learns quickly. Excellent student (3.92 GPA). — Jason Lauren, ScoutU Scout, 414-303-7607 (cell), Jason@ScoutU.com   Maddie is full of energy. She is a joyful kid who brings the best out of herself and her teammates both on and off the floor. Her intangibles set her apart as a communicator and someone who plays the game with her heart on her sleeve. Offensively, she has great touch and athleticism for a player her size. Able to catch and shoot around and inside the perimeter, while also finishing over both shoulders in the paint. She came on strong at the end of her sophomore season as an offensive rebounder and paint presence for our team.   Defensively, she’s able to affect the game positively with her constant communication and her length in the paint. She has the potential to be a tone-setter for our basketball team physically in the paint and as a leader and communicator both on and off the floor. I look forward to seeing her use her work ethic and joy for the game to continue to reach her toward her ceiling as a player and person. — Mike Zerr, BV Girls Basketball Coach   Madison’s physicality and toughness set her apart as a dominant post player. Offensively, she was relentless on the boards, converting rebounds into second-chance points. Geiver’s determination in the low post allowed her to score through contact and draw fouls, putting significant pressure on opposing defenses. On the defensive end, her anticipation and high level of communication made everyone else around her better. Geiver’s ability to bury defenders for the catch and easy score, dominate the rebounds on both ends, and intimidate opposing players from attacking the basket led to her being a top standout. — Prep Girls Hoops

Maddie Geiver is a 6-2 true post with a bright future. Can finish with both hands around the rim. She has a nice back-to-the-basket game and she steps out and hits the three. Great offensive rebounder, and she runs the floor well. Needs to improve conditioning, speed and agility and finishing through contact.

— Sean Ladd, SD Network Coach

Message from Maddie

My name is Madison Geiver, and I am a 2025 forward/center from Brandon Valley High School in South Dakota. I am 6-foot-2 and 200 pounds. During my junior year, I was named to the SDHSAA State All-Tournament Team. My current GPA is 3.92 and I have not finalized a major yet.

Some things that make me unique as a center/forward are my size, strength and speed up and down the court, as well as disrupting the other team’s offense. I am a team-oriented player who is very vocal on and off the court with a strong desire to succeed and motivate others. I have been on varsity since my freshman year. I have a strong work ethic focused on continuing to improve my skills, strength and endurance. My continuous work over the summer playing with SD Network offered me opportunities to travel and participate in numerous tournaments across the Midwest and compete against high-level talent.

I go to the gym 4 days/week for 1 hour and 30 minutes with my AAU coaches. My time with them is spent focused on speed and agility training including shooting, ball handling, plyometrics and timed runs. I also focus on my post moves, which includes back to the basket, face up, mid-range shooting and finishing through contact. While at home, I practice my shooting and post moves for 30 minutes/day and run 2-5 miles per week. I enjoy playing 2-on-2 with my dad and siblings, and I also do strength and weight training 3 days/week for 1 hour. My academics are a big priority for me, and I have earned Academic Excellence Awards each year at the #1 school in the state. I have taken AP level classes and am currently on my third year of Spanish. I am currently interested in a major that will help others in the medical field. Off the court, I love helping young players and volunteer at 1st-7th grade basketball camps. I also enjoy participating in church activities that support our community.

Thank you for your time to review my information. I look forward to discussing more about your program soon.
