Evaluations
2025 PG/SG Luca Quinn from Olean H.S. in New York is a solid player in the 2025 class. After watching several of his games, I learned he has a deep three-point shot and is a very good passer. He’s great at getting in the paint and making the right reads to find someone open for an easy basket. Luca also does a good job moving without the basketball and getting to his spots to fire deep-range threes. Around the bucket, he can finishing with scooping hook-shot layups over taller defenders, and he knows how to slow his steps down to control the bump from a defender to finish strong.
I was really impressed with his off-the-ball screen hook passes to the big rolling down the middle, as well as raising up for shots on the wings. I enjoyed watching his defensive anticipation and toughness on that end. Luca has a true grit and hustle to him that any coach would love on their team. He definitely has confidence in his outside shooting ability and isn’t afraid to get his shots up.
Luca does need to improve on different finishes around the basket to be successful at the next level with bigger, faster and more athletic players in college. He has a good handle under pressure as a guard but can work on becoming more shifty with the basketball. Overall Luca has nice shooting form, plays extremely hard, is tough on defense and very coachable. He also handles his business off the court with an outstanding 4.0 GPA. I know he’ll continue to get better while working 7 days/week with his basketball trainer and in the weight room.
