Evaluations

2025 SG Kyle Monterrubio from Jackson High School is a fun player to watch! The 6-foot-3 left-handed assassin caught my attention quickly with his outside shooting and ability to get to the basket with a variety of finishes. He’s currently averaging 16 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. He is a big-time player for his school and the Gurus of Go, who compete in high-level AAU tournaments. Kyle is very good at getting to his spots and moving without the basketball. He impressed me with his transition game, going downhill and finishing strong at the basket while getting lots of And-1 plays.   Kyle’s shooting is very solid and he has a consistent form. He has a nice looking release and a lot of passion during the game. For a guard, he is also a good rebounder (almost 8 a game). He currently holds a 3.7 GPA, and you can tell that Kyle works hard both on and off the court. He does need to improve his ball handling and on-the-ball defense, but other than that, the sky is the limit for Kyle. Any program would love to have a kid like this on their team, because he is for sure a program player who can really help at the next level. — DJ Blanks, ScoutU Basketball Scout, DJ@ScoutU.com, 216-990-8617

Message from Kyle

My name is Kyle Monterrubio, and I’m in the 2025 class at Jackson High School in Massillon, Ohio. I am currently a 6-3, 175-pound lefty that plays the guard and forward positions. I have a 3.75 GPA. During my senior year, I will be taking CCP classes and the other recommended courses needed to fulfill my science, community service, student engagement, and citizenship seals. After graduation, my goal is to play college basketball while studying for a business degree.   When I set personal goals for myself, I don’t stop working until I achieve the desired outcome. I have always been competitive and a perfectionist. These two attributes have driven me to be the student-athlete I am today. Winning is what’s most important to me. I am willing to do whatever my team needs from me in order for us to achieve success. I pride myself in keeping my composure during games and making the right basketball plays to put my team in a position to succeed. I am a versatile athlete who can play all five positions on the court.   In the offseason, I play AAU basketball with the Gurus of Go. I work out with a personal trainer two times per week and then lift on my own two times each week. I also practice with a basketball trainer once a week to strengthen and develop my skills. Off the court, I assist with our youth basketball camps, officiate youth basketball, and last summer I worked at an all sports youth camp. Ultimately, I desire to be a well-rounded individual who can use my experiences on and off the court to develop into a good man and human being.   Thanks for taking the time to evaluate my profile. I hope I’m a good fit for your team and we can communicate in the near future.
