Evaluations

Kya is an amazing young lady with only a few years of softball experience behind her, yet she has found herself playing for one of the top teams in the Vancouver area and secured a position on Synergy Gold. Her athletic background in both soccer and softball demonstrated to me that her athletic goals beautifully align with the standards and professionalism shown by an athlete looking to earn a scholarship. Kya enthusiastically approaches her role as an athlete; she is an incredible teammate and embraces new challenges within her sports programs, training and school work, turning ideas into action. She is a natural-born leader – with her ability to inspire a group through any situation while training with great focus, effort, enthusiasm and professionalism. This demonstrates that she can elevate her personal skills, even when no one is looking.   There is a genuine passion that Kya brings to the table. She is very well educated in her athletic goals, describing the type of commitment to achieve them, accompanied by the rewards that work will bring. Kya is a cheerful, honest and trustworthy individual. A young woman with solid integrity who demonstrates a real commitment to personal excellence. Kya trains for softball 6 days/week, aligning with the top players in America, in addition to her 61 MPH throwing arm at 3rd base. All of this hard work earned Kya the MVP title in the 2023 Provincial Championships. — Susan Kemper, ScoutU Softball Scout, Susan@ScoutU.com, 604-808-5215   Kya is the kind of athlete that every coach wants on a team – she is always striving to be better. Not one practice has gone by where Kya does not ask what she needs to do to be a better player. She is quick to the ball at 3rd base and has great lateral movement.   Academically, Kya is a 3.6 GPA student enrolled in a Leadership Program at school where she volunteers over 40 hours to Social Justice initiatives. Kya has received the “Most Hardworking Award,” is a two-time recipient of the “We Care Award” and has participated in running softball and baseball clinics. — Kim Brooks, Synergy Gold Coach, Univ. of Oklahoma Softball (1987-89)

Message from Kya

My name is Kya Yun, and I will graduate in 2025 from Windermere Secondary School in Vancouver, BC. I play for Tri-City Titans U17A out of Coquitlam and Synergy Gold (.571 club BA) out of Ridge Meadows, BC (Canada). Standing 5-foot-7, I primarily play 3rd base (61 mph overhand) and OF, but am also comfortable playing most infield positions. I have a 3.7 GPA and want to further my academics in biological or biomedical sciences. I’ve also been involved in high-level sports for several years other than softball including powerlifting, golf, boxing, tennis and soccer, which have overall helped improve my game.   I am a hardworking athlete who always wants to get better on and off the field, always looking for ways to improve my game. What makes me stand out is I am always one of the loudest players, as well as one of the most supportive. Outside of practice, I try to lift 3-4 times a week as well as 2 extra batting sessions and after-school conditioning. I am also involved in the leadership program at school where I volunteer for 40 hours/year in my community, as well as educating and being educated on various social justice issues (including climate change and community issues). I have previously volunteered with Life Mark Physio Clinic, Blue Spruce Montessori School, Garden Club, along with leading the Me2We club. I also enjoy coaching/running softball clinics with T21 Performance Academy as it’s a way to give back to the game I know and love.   I appreciate you taking the time to view my info, and I hope we can be in contact soon!
