Evaluations

KJ Tipton is a standout RHP and versatile athlete with the skills and determination to excel at the collegiate level. In the circle, her 60 mph fastball is complemented by exceptional movement and a variety of pitches, including a screwball at 56-58 MPH, a sharp curveball, and a deceptive changeup. Her rise ball, with three distinct levels, is particularly effective and sets her apart as a pitcher. KJ consistently delivers under pressure, earning a reputation for stepping up in high-stakes situations. Her commitment to both physical and mental training, including weekly pitching lessons, highlights her dedication to continuous improvement. In addition to her pitching, KJ is a reliable 1B with quick footwork, strong glove work and the ability to make plays with precision. In the outfield, her range, tracking ability, and strong, accurate arm make her a valuable defensive asset.   At the plate KJ is a powerful and consistent hitter, with over 30 career home runs, including 12 in the last six months – and a standout performance of 4 HR in a single game. Her 67 MPH exit velocity, combined with excellent pitch selection, makes her a key contributor in her team’s lineup. She excels in both power hitting and small-ball situations, using her speed and strategic approach to maximize her offensive impact. KJ is known for her relentless work ethic, strong leadership and positive attitude, earning respect from teammates and coaches alike. A well-known player in the softball community, she sets personal goals and consistently works to achieve them. With her versatility, competitive mindset and proven ability to perform at a high level, KJ Tipton is an exceptional candidate for college softball and a player who will make a strong impact at the next level. — Susan Kemper, ScoutU Softball Scout, Susan@ScoutU.com, 604-808-5215

Message from KJ

My name is Kaylie Tipton, known in the softball world as KJ. I attend Casteel High School in Queen Creek, Arizona. I am a 2028 graduate with an athletic build (5-3, 154 lbs). I am a utility player, but my main position is pitcher (60 mph fastball). I also play outfield regularly as well as 1st base. I’ve always been known to be hardworking – past coaches have all said that one of my main attributes is being relentless. I’ve been told I lead by example and can always be that teammate to trust. I have played this game since I was 6 years old and have always thought about both the mental and physical side of softball. I do my best to balance the physical work with the softball IQ side, as I know both are equally important.   In high school, I am in a softball academy which provides hours on the field as well as in the gym daily. We lift 3 times a week going through legs, arms, back, speed, etc. I go to pitching lessons once a week and hitting lessons once a week. I hit before practices, and on weekends I wake up early to attend lessons. I hit every day for at least 15 minutes going through drills provided from my coaches. I am enlisted in 2 honors classes and was recommended for Honors English my sophomore year. I am looking towards doing STUCO next year, which would pick up from doing it previous years. I volunteered as an assistant to the junior high softball team at Casteel, and I enjoy helping people become better and being a leader by example for my younger peers. I like to go to Miracle Mile with my team, which is assisting special needs kids/adults and playing baseball. Annually I volunteer my time at Feed my Starving Children and enjoy working with others to provide for people.   What makes me stand out from others my age is the love I have for the game. I am willing to go to practice early and stay late just to improve. I understand I’m not perfect and I know I will never be perfect. I know I’m going to fail, and being able to understand that helps me improve not only as an athlete but a person. This game is what I live for and it’s given me so much. I am a confident, hardworking, relentless, and a tough person because of softball.   Thank you for visiting my profile, and I hope we can talk in the future.
