Evaluations

Kemi is a physical, athletic center back who is experienced at the junior college level with Northwest Iowa Community College. His ability to maintain possession out of the back helps his team to move up the field into the attack. Kemi has a great passing range and can strike a driven ball to teammates on the run or deliver a firm ball into their feet. In addition to his ability on the ball, Kemi is a solid 1v1 defender, does not shy away from a tackle and steps with great timing in order to break up passes.   Kemi is motivated in the classroom and interested in earning a degree in engineering or business while playing soccer at a 4-year institution. With Kemi’s playing experience in Germany and at NICC, he will be an impactful player at the next level. — Mackenzie Schissel, ScoutU Soccer Scout, 256-283-1160 (cell), Mackenzie@ScoutU.com

Message from Kemi

My name is Kemi Ekoka, and I am originally from Hamburg, Germany. I’m currently a freshman at Northwest Iowa Community College, looking to transfer to a 4-year school for the fall 2025. Last season I primarily played as a center-back, though I have also played as a right-back and defensive midfielder. My role as a center-back suited my strengths, particularly my ability to build out from the back and maintain possession.   Throughout my soccer career, I have had several achievements. One of my earliest accomplishments was winning the U13 Hamburg Indoor Cup with SC Sperber. This victory helped establish us as one of the strongest teams in the region. Two years later, I played for Vorwärts Wacker 04 in the U15 Regionalliga, the highest league in Germany for this age group. Although the season was cut short due to the pandemic, we had been competing at a high level and performing well before the interruption.   In my U16 season, I won the Hamburg Championship with Rahlstedter SC, which earned us promotion to the U17 Regionalliga, the second-highest U17 league in Germany. This was a significant milestone in our development, as it allowed us to compete against some of the best U17 teams in the country. The greatest achievement of my career so far has been qualifying for the U19 Regionalliga, the second-highest league for U19 teams in Germany. This accomplishment positioned us as one of the leading youth teams in the nation and provided invaluable experience.   I made the decision to take the next big step in my career by moving to the United States to play soccer at the collegiate level and earn a degree. This has been an exciting new chapter, and I am eager to continue my growth as both a player and person throughout this recruiting process. I look forward to discussing how I might fit into your program.
