Evaluations

I was really impressed with Kara, not only on the pitching mound but also learning what a great student-athlete she is. With an arm clocking a 59 MPH fastball and a 60 MPH overhand throw – working with some of the top pitching coaches in British Columbia – Kara will be reaching new thresholds in no time. Her rise ball is the best in her league. Kara’s strengths include keeping batters off balance with her secondary pitches that freeze opponents.   Off the field, Kara is an Honor Roll student who earned an Outstanding Achievement Math Certificate, all leading towards her 3.8 GPA. She was named Athlete of the Year in 2022 and has a very impressive volunteer resume. I am really looking forward to helping Kara’s college softball dreams come true. — Susan Kemper, ScoutU Softball Scout, Susan@ScoutU.com, 604-808-5215

Message from Kara

My name is Kara Brandner, and I am a 2026 graduate attending Thomas Haney Secondary School in Maple Ridge, British Columbia, with a 3.8 GPA. I am a 5-foot-7 pitcher who throws a fastball (59 MPH), changeup, drop ball, curveball, rise ball and screwball. Last season, I helped my team clinch the U17A Canadian National Championships by pitching 5 2/3 innings of no-hit ball.   I am a positive leader in the circle, where my calm and confident demeanor helps my team achieve and maintain a winning mentality. I work very hard both on and off the diamond, not only by taking time to do skill drills and strength workouts, but also mentoring younger athletes. I go to a self-paced high school where I am challenged to hold myself accountable to make sure my work gets done thoroughly and on time. I’ve proven that I am successful by attaining multiple academic awards in my last year including Principal’s List, Excellence in Math, Excellence in Media Design, and Excellence in Social Studies. I am currently a part of Student Council, which helps me continue to develop my leadership skills, such as organizing and volunteering in large-scale school events.   Thank you for taking the time to learn more about me and my skills on the field, in the classroom and as a person. I hope we can discuss your softball program soon.
