Evaluations

Josilyn Welch is an incredible distance runner who continues to shine each season. Her running career started off by breaking the school record in cross country as a freshman and qualifying for state. As a sophomore (2023), Josilyn was named All-State in cross country and qualified for the Ohio state competition in the 3200 meters.   She is a rising star and is very dedicated to both her athletics and academic achievements. Josilyn currently holds a GPA of 3.87 and would like to major in nursing. As a well-rounded student, she enjoys giving back to her community and is involved with her local church group. Entering her junior year, Josilyn has high goals and aspirations, and I’m confident she will succeed. She will be a very strong candidate as a collegiate runner and student. — ScoutU

Message from Josilyn

My name is Josilyn Welch, and I am a 2025 graduate of Pike-Delta-York High School in Delta, Ohio. I am an extremely determined 5-foot-4, 116-pound distance runner who sets challenging goals and focuses on reaching those goals. During my junior cross country season, I finished 11th at State, earning All-Ohio Honors (18:47.10 5K). This spring at the Hopewell Loudon Track Invitational, I finished 1st in the 800m, 1600m, and 3200m, setting PR’s in the 800 (2:32) and the 1600 at 5:26. I would later lower my 1600 PR to 5:20.91, along with breaking my own school record by 19 seconds in the 3200m (11:28.08) at our Regional meet. My time at Regionals was 31 seconds faster than last year. My current GPA is 3.87, and I plan to major in nursing with a minor in Spanish.   I’m an incredibly hard worker, even when no one is watching. When others start slacking off, that’s when I push even harder. Outside of team practices, I meet individually with a running form coach, then implement her recommended exercises into my personal training, as well as my team’s practice runs.   Academically, I am an Honors student taking advanced courses. Many teachers have commented on my leadership skills, strong work ethic and desire to succeed, both inside and outside of the classroom. At church I helped create a weekly youth program for middle school and high school students. I also volunteer with my community’s summer lunch program that provides free lunches to children in need. My work experience includes coaching preschool and school-age gymnastics classes.   Thank you for taking time to view my profile! Good luck during your season!
