Evaluations

5-foot-10, 165 pounds. Forward/guard. Left-handed. Outstanding and physical defender. Guards taller post players and shuts them down and frustrates them. Plays bigger than she is with her heart, passion and excellent strength. Has a knack for getting steals by reading plays, keeping an eye on the ball and anticipating passes. Excellent shot blocker, even players she’s not guarding. Communicates well off the ball and keeps her teammates on the same page. Drives to the hoop with spin moves an euro step. Consistent mid-range shot. Can catch or shoot or create own shot by dribbling between legs and in-and-out moves. Makes long passes up court by keeping eyes up on transition. Very good rebounder (boxes out well and physical). Draws a lot of fouls (mid-70% free-throw shooter). Working on being more of an offensive player with her role in the past being more defense and rebounding. Solid ballhandler but working on ballhandling better in pressure situations. High basketball IQ, smart player. Great work ethic (sees basketball trainer twice a week, goes to the gym almost every day to get extra practice in and lifts weights). Self-motivated and a competitor. Leader on the court, the locker room and the classroom. — Jason Lauren, ScoutU Scout, 414-303-7607 (cell), Jason@ScoutU.com

Message from Jayda

My name is Jayda Neilson. I am a 2026 forward at Lakota West High School in West Chester, Ohio. I am a very well-rounded student-athlete. My GPA is currently 3.4, and I have already taken college courses earning A’s. As a basketball player, I have consistently started for varsity both freshman and sophomore year. I believe I’m valuable because I am a team-first player who brings leadership and high energy, which helps drive my team. On the court, one of my top assets is my physicality and the ability to defend players beyond my size. I earned the Leadership Award and averaged 5 points and 5 rebounds per game as a sophomore.   In the offseason, I play AAU for Dayton Lady Hoopstars and consistently work with a player development coach. When I am not on the basketball court or in the classroom, I am actively involved in Student Athletic Advisory Board (SAAB), Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) and West Ambassadors (a school academic leadership group).   Thank you so much for taking the time to view my profile. I am excited for the opportunity to play at the next level, and I look forward to finding the best fit for my basketball and academic career.
