Evaluations

2025 SG Gabriella Murphy from Marlboro Central H.S. (NY) was very impressive when I watched her play. Her shooting ability is high-level, and she can shoot it many different ways from off the dribble, off pin-down screens, catch-and-shoot 3s, raise up 3s and more. Gabby is also a very good rebounder – she has shown continued success in that area from her games throughout the season with 7-8 rebounds in a game. What makes her such a great shooter is her ability to move without the basketball, which creates easy plays to free herself up to knock down a shot. Gabby’s shooting form is perfect! I can tell she has trained on her shot relentlessly for years. She averaged 17 points this past season in high school and also is having a strong AAU season for the New Jersey Panthers.   Gabby does need to improve on being more of a leader for her senior year and being more aggressive on the offensive end with attacking moves downhill – because she is a good finisher at the basket through contact. Other than that, she is a strong prospect to play at the next level and would be a good fit for any program in need of a shooter! Gabby also handles business off the court holding a 3.8 GPA and is a part of the National Honor Society. I see a lot of potential in Gabby and can tell the future will be bright for her. Very coachable and good kid as well! — DJ Blanks, ScoutU Basketball Scout, DJ@ScoutU.com, 216-990-8617

Message from Gabby

My name is Gabby Murphy, and I am a 2025 graduate at Marlboro Central High School in New York. Currently, I hold a 3.8 GPA and am taking all college and AP courses to help prepare me for higher education. Once attending college, my goal is to study either political science, criminal justice or psychology. Fun fact – I am the first person in my family to be interested in this, as the rest of my family has completely different jobs.   On the basketball court, I’ve achieved awards such as Poughkeepsie Journal First-Team All-Star, BCANY (Basketball Coaches Association of New York) Top 50 Award three years in a row, and MHAL All-Star three years in a row. As any athlete who wants to be successful, I try to work out as much as I can. My dad grew up playing this sport and it is our personal way of bonding! I do agility training and weightlifting along with working out with my dad when I can (between 5-7 days a week). This involves working on all aspects of my game, and if we don’t have time at night we go before school at 5 a.m. to make sure we get our work in. Our workouts can go anywhere from an hour to 2.5 depending on what else I’ve done that day.   In school, I am ranked 36th out of 150, and this year alone I’ve done over 20 hours of community service. I am part of my school’s National Honor Society as I am committed both in school and on the court. One thing that makes me unique is my personality. I am not a very loud person (in fact I’m mainly quiet and shy) but on the court I let go and allow the game to take over, making sure I am a good teammate and playing my hardest. Overall, I am a hardworking student-athlete who has goals and is willing to sacrifice things in order to achieve success in school and basketball.   Thank you coach for your time, and I hope to hear from you soon.
