Evaluations

Evan Olson is a versatile, tough ballplayer with 2 years of eligibility remaining. He’s primarily played catcher at Ripon College, starting 63 games since 2023. Evan also has the athleticism to play in the OF and filled in admirably at SS.   Behind the plate, Evan owns a 2.0 pop time. He’s a gap-to-gap hitter with some power (11 2B, 4 HR last season). Coaches can rely on him to put the ball in play, as he struck out only 5 times in 130 AB last year. Also has good speed for a catcher, stealing 10 bases and clocking a 3.97 time to 1st.   Evan has overcome several injuries during his career, but he refuses to stay off the field. He was under-recruited out of high school, but proved he can excel at the collegiate level with a .531 SLG as a D3 sophomore. Evan is a strong teammate with a positive attitude, and he’s open to any program where he’ll continue his development and have a chance to win. — Jon Feyen, ScoutU Baseball Scout, Jon@ScoutU.com, 920-979-3093

Message from Evan

My name is Evan Olson, and I will be a second-semester junior this fall for the 2025-26 school year. I recently entered the transfer portal with 2 years of eligibility left. The past three years, I attended Ripon College in Wisconsin. Starting almost every game at catcher this spring, I batted .338 with 4 homers, 11 doubles and 10 stolen bases. I’m best known for my bat-to-ball skills and putting the ball in play with two strikes, as I only struck out 5 times in 130 AB. I can spray the ball around the yard and have the desire to increase my power numbers going forward. When coaches asked me to, I also played in the outfield and at shortstop. I am currently majoring in Physical Education with 2.82 GPA and have earned 78 credits towards my degree.   What really makes me stand out as a ballplayer are my leadership skills and the toughness I have when it comes to competing. I’ve been faced with adversity plenty of times over the course of my college career, and am proud to say I’ve gotten back up each time I’ve been taken down. The special thing about me is the versatility I can bring to the team, as I played three different positions this past year. I’m comfortable playing multiple positions and can adapt any way my team needs. Recently I’ve been challenging myself to be better in the classroom and wish to keep getting better academically these next two years. Recently I made the Dean’s List for the first time in my college career and hope to continue these ways going forward.   My passion for baseball and the dedication I have are what I believe will make me a valuable asset to any team. Thank you for taking the time to view my profile.
